I have not yet finished this great novel, but from what I have read, this translation seems very true to Tolstoy's intention, having been approved by him during his lifetime. The notes at the back if the book are very useful, and are great to help you understand the book better. It is a huge book so you do need to stick with it, but it is rightly a classic that deserves to be read
