Description

I was twelve years of age when I chopped off my hair, dressed as a boy, and set off to save my family from impending ruin. I made it almost to the end of my front garden...Magic may be the greatest scandal in Regency England. But that's not going to stop Kat Stephenson when there are highwaymen to foil, sinister aristocrats to defeat...and true loves to capture for her two older sisters.

Author Biography:

Stephanie Burgis grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, but fell in love with Regency England when she discovered the novels of Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer. Her book A Most Improper Magick won the Waverton Good Read Children's Award. It was also chosen by Booktrust for its 2012 Bookbuzz book-gifting scheme for Year 7 students across the UK. In addition, it was longlisted for the Branford Boase Award and for the British Fantasy Award for Best Fantasy Novel. Stephanie decided to be a writer when she was seven and sold her first short story when she was fifteen. She lives with her husband - fellow writer Patrick Samphire - their son, and their dog in Wales. Visit her at www.stephanieburgis.com or on Twitter: @stephanieburgis.
