Age of Empires III Complete Collection reviews

To begin with, at first look its a fair bit different from what Age of Empire II fans will be used to which is not only on the visual element. The graphics are very nice and the destruction effects are very well made & different every time because of the engine they used. (Good idea). The naval combat is also very graphicly beautiful but lower spec computers need to watch out as they are more intense than the rest of the games graphics & effects and make your computer work a fair bit harder resulting in possible lag or jagged camera movement. The game doesnt span as many years as Age of Empires II did which is not realy a bad thing but does mean that the units dont change very much over the game. They also introduced an experiance & reward card system for normal games which is a nice addition. On the downside its quite different from Age of Empires II which in itself is always going to happen with a new game in a series but this time around it is quite noticable. This game would have been a great game if Microsoft & Ensemble Studio had combined the much loved Age of Empires II gameplay with the nice graphics & effects of Age of Empires III along with some of the nice new features it offers but left the game fundementals the same.

I have been a fan of the series for a long time but when I first played AOE 3, I was blown away. The graphics are awesome, the environments are beautifully designed and the range of things you can do are just endless. Much of the gameplay is still the same but there is a lot of new stuff, eg the new home cities are a nice touch. I recommend this to anyone who wants a great RTS game with huge replay value.

If you are a fan of Real Time Strategy, you should probably already have this game. It might be a bit old, but the graphics are still pretty damn respectable for a game from 2005. The campaign mode has an above average storyline to it, and the skirmish mode offers many hours of gameplay by itself. Where this game truly shines, is when you take it online or on a LAN.

The reason I do not give this five stars, is because some civilisations are significantly more powerful than others, and vice versa. All civ's have their strengths, but some do have much better strengths than others. It is not bad to the point that it is unplayable though, I have had plenty of epic battles in which I have bested a player who was using a better civ than I, and the feeling of victory is just awesome.

I highly recommend this game, and having both of the expansion packs too only sweetens the deal.

Age of Empires 3 is probably one of the best strategy games for pc and possibly on any platform.

A of E III is incredibly addictive! It encompasses everything that a computer game should, and while arguably not as good as AOE2, provides gamers with all they want

This game was reccomended as being well designed and very playable. It has proved itself. After enjoying the basic play my son has shared info with other fans and can now manipulate the field of combat and is now spying on his friends techniques so he can trash them in a multi player trial. It really stretches strategic thinking.

As far as strategy games go I think aoe3 is definately the way forward…addictive gameplay backed up with slighty better than expected visuals makes me an addict for sure. Multiplayer experience as far as i'm concerned is easy and fun!!

Good value for money, an enjoyable experience if you have the time to play it!

This is a great game for wasting a day. It gets you hooked straight away with easy controls and keeps you engaged for hours.

A Great game

There is a massive leap from AOE II to AOE III, both in graphics and storylines. More building options, more player options, amazing water warfare. One downside is that slightly older/slower machines may struggle, especially with the water scenes… Overall a brilliant game though and excellent edition to the Age of Empires collection

Doesn't compete with AOE1 and AOE2. Still is a good game, but if you are a Fan of the classic Age of Empires games you may be disappointed by this. Building limits (on defensive buildings) etc, do not seem to add anything to the game but make it seem less "empire"ish and more "small town"ish. Also I had difficulty getting this game to work on Windows Vista, or Windows 7, worked fine on Windows XP though.

AoE3's ES online is a bit of let down, usually pop up all sort of fail to join my friend error. Max daily online players seems to be floating around 2500, down to 700 at NZ night time. Secondly, majority of night time players are not from USA, Asia or Oceanic region. Hints: It causes a lot of lag during matches and ends up drop out.

AOE is awesome but the expansion pack made alot more opportunities during the game play. Much better than the previous AOE games even though back in its day AOE 2 was awesome!

this is soo much better than age of empires 2 all the unts have much better abilities and also instead of how in the previous age of empires games all the factions have the same units and act the same but only look different in this one the factions act different,example if you were to play as the europeans then you would have good good ranged units but lesser unit count,but if yuo were to play as the indian factions than you would notice a decreace of price for the units but at the same time a decrese of value too so you would have to create larger armies. all and all the game is good i give it good because warcfhiefs expansion can occasionally glitch.

I already own the age of empires 3 since 2005 and just installed again on my modern pc this year and they have updated it to look more enhanced the graphics are better but still for a 2005 game it's a bit rough looking but still little improve before age of empires 4 comes out and they did the same with age of empires 2 they looked little better but cant wait till AOE4 comes out to cheak the graphics and how well it will look

Oh man, if you love to play historically-based RTS games, then this is a must for you!

You won't be disappointed, afterall it is a Age of Empires game made by former Ensemble Studios!

I knew they said they would ship on the same day if you order before 4pm, but the speedy delivery is still extremely amazing!

After playing clash of clans, it motivated me to play more strategy games and this is an excellent example
