The tributary farming country, rich in agricultural weaith - potatoes particularly - affords it a considerable mercantile business in addition to which various manufacturing lines have been established with success. Anoka was visited by Father Hen nepin near the dose of the 17th century when he discovered St. Anthony faiis at Minneapolis. Just after passing Anoka the new buildings of the Anoka State Asylum for the Insane can be seen to the eastward.
