"Not just another spin-off"
5 stars"

Everybody knows Angel (David Boreanaz) as Buffy's Beau on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ who must leave Sunnydale in order to give his one and only love a chance at a real life. Now in L.A. and lovesick, Angel must continue on fighting the ‘Big Bads’ which threaten the world, but he is not alone. Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) and Doyle (Glenn Quinn) make up the trio who take on anything that comes their way and help keep the balance between good and evil.

‘Angel’ may be a spin-off but is not a lesser version of Buffy in any way and carries it's own weight and then some. The show is a continuation from the 3rd season of ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and plot lines do interconnect from both shows which helps you feel like you are in the ‘Buffyverse’. The show has the typical humor which has come to be expected from the television legend Joss Whedon as well as everything he does best – Drama, Horror, Suspense, Romance and Supernatural.

I highly recommend this show to any Buffy fan or if you are not a fan on Buffy perhaps this show is a less teen orientated show with more adult story lines and less of the bubblegum feel. In any case do not be turned off by the label spin-off because in this case you will be letting yourself down.

"Buffy spin-off brilliant in own right "
5 stars"

With David Boreanaz as the titular Angel, this show has it all. Set in the universe of Buffy the Vampire Slayer it follows the story of Angel, the vampire with a soul, as he moves to Los Angeles and continues the battle against the demon forces of evil there with his very own crew at Angel Invesigations. For those who are unsure they want to make the transition from Buffy to Angel, I fully recommend it. While the vibe is more mature and closer to real-life, it maintains the dry wit and loveable ‘feel’ of Buffy. There are crossovers between Buffy Season 4 and Angel Season 1 there for those interested fans, but Angel can be watched completely independantly from Buffy. It has engaging and interesting plotlines, and is a must-have for anyone interested in the urban fantasy genre.

"A brilliant character arc."

Stunning performaces by Boreanaz and Carpenter really bring the characters to life (or at least a state of dead walking). The base characters are there from “Buffy” but written as to allow room for growth. Lot's of Whedonesque humor in the lines. Great series.

"Vampire rollercoaster ride"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The spin-off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes a whole new look on the ‘end-of-the-world’ theme as the story of the Vampire with a Soul tries to find his path on another roller-coaster ride. With the help of Cordelia Chase and Doyle they start up Angel Investigations to help the helpless in a paranormal world. Doyle possesses a rather painful sight to the future. He's the link between ‘the powers that be’ and evil incarnate. Fairly early on Angel locks horns with a lawfirm Wolfram & Hart, whose clients tend to be of demonic nature themselves. Because of Wolfram & Hart, Angel's entangled web of past, present and future unravel his ultimate destiny and the fate of the world.
