He was unconscious for a short time. When the patient was seen next morning no fracture could be detected. The wound, which was filled with particles Of dirt, was cleansed and dressed antiseptically. It healed by granulation, and the patient suffered from no untoward symptoms until about seven weeks later, when he noticed while walking a tendency Of the right foot to drag slightly. Ten days later, while eating, his head fell forward on the table, and his right arm and leg seemed paralyzed.
