He lived thirty years after that period occasionally revising the first series, and, about the year 1 77 8, completed the other five: all which are now submitted to the. Pub licit, without the least hazard of diminishing the fair fame of the worthy and benevolent Collector whose name is withheld, not fiom the silly wish to deceive, but from an idea that divulging it would be contrary to the spirit of the Title which he had chosen for his publication. There are, however, both personal and local allusions suficient to discover the Author to any one in the least 'conversant with the Literary H istmy of the Eighteenth Century.
