We really enjoyed this movie, it's characters and humour in particular the role of Boys father played by the movies director Taika Waititi. Full of “cheeky young fellas” in a truely New Zealand rural Maori storyline, this is a great watch which leads on to Taika Waititi's newest movie “Hunt for the Wilderpeople”.

Best movie i have seen in a long time! A great movie that you can watch over and over again and still get the laughs from it each time. When there mother passes away and there dad runs away its up to grandma to look after both Boy who is obsessed with the famous Micheal Jackson and his little brother Rocky who thinks he has magical powers but when dad comes home it all changes :)
Boring !!!
A great movie to remind those of us who remember the Aotearoa of the 1980's. A great movie to watch with many funny moments and classic 80's kiwiana.
Great acting , humour and a great story.
I dont generally have time for NZ movies, I dont think much of them usually, but this movie was amazing. Reminded me alot of Mark II, another amazing Kiwi movie. Really got to the point and showed what NZ life was actually like, it was brutally honest and gave a spectacular laugh as well.
Great Kiwiana and real funny!! One for all ages and a must to own.
Brilliant dvd, enjoyed it at the movies and dvd
A bit slow at some bits but a few kiwi giggles in there :)
Hahahaha, this was the best film Ive watch of its type in a long while… Loved the fact that it was written in a “laugh at yourself” and blow the stereotypical crap out of the water style…Boy, hah, what a man!
Great film and a great watch… Buy it… You egg! lol
Before we all became selfish, and tainted by greed, BOY shines through with it's simple tale of morality, sharing, and living your life to the fullest. This is the REAL New Zealand. Outside of the cities, not much has changed, and BOY shows this through and through. What makes a New Zealander a bona fide Kiwi? It's this: barefeet, icecream in a cone, walking on the mudflats, and running through the cornfields :)
BOY is funny, sad, moving and enlightening. You really should get this DVD.
This was very dissapointing
Laugh out lou till your stomach hurts. This movie is so kiwi its funny. A movie that every New Zealander should watch as well as everyone else. Really depicts the kiwi culture in the 80's.
This is such a good movie. I love it because its so real in the fact of real life. Its also got loads of comedy I advise anyone to get this movie it is one of my all time favorites!!!
What will become a classic kiwi movie! It's actually a rather sad wee story about a boy and his Dad but it's told in a hilarious kiwi way you can't not like it!!
Top movie one of the best I own. Well worth buying. Top viewing Good on Ya APE
This would be a cool and funny movie but a little sad in the movie. I would give it 8/10 for a cool movie
At every level this film excels. It is thought provoking, humorous, warm and understanding of human nature, while at the same time highlighting social problems in our culture. A definite 'must ' to see.
Such a brilliant movie for home and for gifts overseas. Hilariously funny and didn't look at my watch once!!
I had no idea what this film was about so it was such a surprise and delight. It's incredibly funny and yet also sensitive and at times a little sad. The first time I saw it I thought maybe you had to be from NZ to get it…but the second viewing was with a friend from the UK and he loved it too.
Love this movie, highly recommend this movie as a great watch for any home sick kiwi living abroad. :)
Boy was your typical kiwi movie, so many things in the movie reminded me of home and the way we grow up in New Zealand, living in Australia its a lot different!! I would recommend every kiwi get a copy of boy as its a classic kiwi tale…
This movie is pretty accurate. Boys father is so much like my uncle…its not funny!… Its HILLARIOUS!!! Those were great times to grow up on the beach. I don't know if a nan would go off without her mokos like that? But I guess the aunty was in town so thats ok.
What a lovely film full of humour and innocence. The boys who played the parts of Boy and Rocky were amazing actors. Would recommend this film to anyone.
Love the fact nothing has been fabricated, real raw humour. I kind of felt the brother Rocky, made the movie for me. It gets all you emotions going throughout the movie, awesome movie..
Really happy great to deal with.
Excellent Movie,!! Takes the viewer back to a childhood era of immediateacy, now, and puberty!! Very funny, but heartachingly real! Reccommend to watch this movie and look for your inner “boy”, you could surprise yourself with what you find inside.
Enjoyed the movie but felt it has been hyped up to be even better than it is.
Loved it, love the whitty charm and kiwi humour.
Definitely one of the best NZ comedies ever! The character familiar but the story is wholly original. Taiko Waititi's use of animation adds great charm & the story has enough depth to make it both funny & a little poignant. 9/10.
Look out Once for Warriors this is gonna be the best NZ film of all times!
I did enjoy the movie. But I think it was hyped up a bit.
Great yarn with family values threaded throughout the humor and sadness of the plot and so typical of the East Coast humor back then..I love eggs..
Loved this movie, wonderful Maori humour.
Loved this movie when we saw it at the cinema. Had to buy it!! And it's just as good the second time round. It's a must buy!!
This movie is amazing capturing the classic nz life from years back, absolutely loved it was laughing the whole way through. A must have.
