Indeed, no one will doubt that at the present time, because of the deeds of these men, the colleges which they represented have a stronger hold upon the affections of our people than they had before the rebellion, when, by too many, it was supposed that studies are unfavorable to the development of a character equally fitted for the duties of peace and of war.
