Bullet Ice Tray reviews

Does not produce as good of ice cubes as pictured. Was rather disappointed to find the the two pieces did no sit together flush thus making what could be better described as a chain-link of bullets; A chain-link that breaks the bullets base off when you try and remove it.

How ever I found if you run the tray under hot water for a wee bit before you pull it apart you get better results.

I had hoped this ice cube mold would make ice cubes(-) as good as the picture on the packet, but was a little disapointed.

The ice tray is stiff plastic (not flexible silicon, like most novelty type trays) and is in 2 halves which push together squeezing out excess water through little holes in the top of each bullet on the top mold, unfortunately the bullets are still linked by a thin film of ice between each of them in the gap between the two half molds.

In trying to open the frozen tray you invariably crack one or more of the bullets and if you try to use hot water to release them from the mold, the bullets melt just enough to become unrecognisable as bullets (because they are so small already that any melt makes them look weird).

Perhaps bigger rounds like .50 cal would work better and still look like a bullet when it comes out- perhaps other people have had better luck but unfortuately based on my experience with this, I couldn't reccommend it, which is a pity because they could have been pretty cool

The idea is GREAT, kinda thought out but maybe just not as though out as it could of been, the picture of the bullets look awesome but they dont come out like that, if I wanted to make ice clear I would have to hook the ice tray to a vibrating device of some kind. Could have maybe done it differently but buy a few (like 6–10) and you have something good for the parties or mates.

The technique to having the bullets come out without being connected is to not over fill the mould. I find half filling the bottom tray, then connecting the top and filling through the little holes works best.

Only negative is that the bullets dissolve rather quickly, so the novelty doesn't quite last as long as I would have hoped.

vThis thing is awesome, and here's what I do with it: Make some strong espresso or plunger coffee. Wait til it cools down and then then pour it into the bullet mold. When it's frozen and a friend has come over (if this never happens, 1. grab someone off the street and 2. stop being such a jerk to people; if you can read this you should HAVE friends already), pour a frosty cold glass of Illicit Cola, and serve it beside a saucer with about 3 ‘shots’ (= frozen bullets of coffee) on it. Get your friend/random street stranger to drop them in the cola. Give it about a minute, and then you're drinking cola with a neat dark coffee tinge to it. Fricken AWESOME. I call it The Caffeineator (replace Illicit with Diet Coke and make the coffee with Starbucks decaf coffee beans for The Decaffeinator). I'm so awesome. And so is this product.

With a little care prefect ice bullets can be had. As good as I'd hoped. Recommended.

Fits water bottles just fine.

It is a fun tray. Use it for what it is and enjoy the results…

Found it to be great for plastic bottles (ie coke etc) as well as great pressy idea for the gun guru. The bullets did come out like the picture shows, so no problem there. Just need to make sure it is squeezed together really tight.

Good build quality and the result is awesome! Ideal for those drinks that “blow your head off” :)

I can make Ice bullets now! Real hard to make, takes a few goes to get complete bullets, but once its sorted you'll be fine.

I think they are cool But since im lazy I only used it like 3 timesXD

Yup! This makes bullet shaped ice bits. Great for shooting into the neck of a drink bottle!

In theory this product is a really good idea, but in reality it is very hard to get the bullets just right.

There are small holes so that you can push down the top of the case to get the right amount of water, however, as soon as you let go the top releases its suction and leaves gaps for air in the bullets.

Also when trying to remove the ice cubes once frozen, all the excess water is stuck to the cubes and you have to try and break it off.

All in all, if you have the patience to keep trying and dont mind the majority of the cubes coming out chipped or with air bubbles this product is good for a one off party.

I found they're not that hard to remove from the tray, just a quick bit of warm water under the tap releases the top. Look good in a short glass with some whiskey, but they do melt quickly due to their small thickness.

I bought this for the sheer novelty of such a thing. I had a little trouble figuring out how to actually get the moulds to work but once I had it sorted, the moulds worked just as they should. Fantastic product, fun for any party.

When i first got this ice tray it looked a bit difficult to get the bullets out in a perfect form. A little trial and error and eventually the outcome of the bullets are great for parties or drinking alone ;D

Cold bullets in your drink…What more could you ask for!

Not as easy to use as some of the other ice molds for sale here [this mold is hard plastic and not silicone] but with a bit of trial and error they do turn out pretty good.

You need to have good distilled water and fill the tray in a particular way, otherwise the bullets crack.

Makes okish ice blocks – but not super great.

A few reviews are saying they had problems with theirs…our was fantastic. Given as a birthday gift and saw them in action, amazing how they actually come out 3D!

It works very well. You just fill one side with water, place the lid and put it in the freezer. it comes out perfectly every-time but sometimes the ice bullets can break if you don't fill enough water in the tray. The only downside is that the tray is very small. I really don't understand what's so difficult about filling water in an ice cube tray.

This product is an awesome idea and great design but it can be hard to get a full tray of well formed ice cubes. Still love the product though!

These ice bullets are pretty cool (no pun intended). It can be a bit hit and miss on whether you'll get a full magazine of perfect ice bullets, but generally they don't come out too bad.

Definitely more interesting than your regular ice cubes.

Cool novelty but it doesnt really produce any full bullets without breakign them :/

The Bullet Ice Cube maker is a great piece of novelty that would be excellent for parties.

The only thing is that the mould is made out of two plastic pieces which don't always sit flush together, and you generally end up with thing strip of ice joining the bullets together which can make it hard to get the bullets out without cracking or breaking.

Even though it is hard to get the bullets out in piece separately it is possible and they look great when you do get them out separately.

Would be great if the mound was made out of silicon but this is still a great novelty item.

Doesnt make perfect bullets like picture but if you're a little careful filling it they do come out pretty cool!

Awesome novelty pack! This looks great when serving alcoholic beverages and is a must for any party!!! The ice look just like real bullets!!!

Great idea, however the ice bullets do not look like the picture at all, and end up breaking when removed from tray, nice idea but doesn't work unfortunately.
