Description

This is an account of what it is like to have cancer. It is a story about men but just as much about those who love them - spouses, children, and friends. It is my story as a man and also my wife's story . . . Ellen and I have been through the trials and tribulations of over eleven years of cancer, but we also experienced the joys of our deepening relationship along the way. You might be able to imagine what the process of dancing with 'the big elephant' involves . . . Ellen and I have danced that journey together.

Author Biography:

Thomas (Tim) Bachmeyer was a Cancer and Wellbeing coach and professional speaker. He guided men as well as their families through their cancer experience. A long-time innovator, he looked outside the boundaries to find what the behavioral sciences can bring to enhance our human experience. In Dancing with the Big Elephant in the Room, he combined his insights as a former psychotherapist and as a survivor simultaneously of two types of cancer. He co-authored with William Johnson Everett Disciplines in Transformation, modeling linkages among theology, psychology, and sociology, in theory, practice, and loyalty. He held degrees from Yale (BA, Philosophy) and the University of Chicago (PhD, Religion and Psychology).
