"Blew my TV up"

So yeah, that happened. Settled down with a brand spanking new bluray, munchies at the ready and BANG! Dead TV… Would probably be angry if I wasn't so impressed! Film was great at the cinema though! And the case is…sturdy :D

I love this movie so much and to get to have the additional bonus features on the blu-ray makes it even more worth while. Recommend you check out the Gag reel ASAP!!

"good not great"
3 stars"

good if derivative storyline, overall good acting – cumberbatch is a fine doctor, tilda swindon wasn't too bad either. interesting sfx. overall more enjoyable than the last couple of marvel mega-movies but the whole comic book genre is becomng snoozeville. nz bluray buyers get stiffed too, with only a dts 5.1 soundtrack whereas other markets like us and uk (region b like nz) get a full 7.1 soundtrack.

"This isn't the best Marvel movie..."

…but it's pretty decent.

Dr. Strange starts out as a narcissistic clown, and moves through a neat hero's journey to become the saviour of the world (…it's Marvel). Cumberbatch is an inspired a choice for the lead as Robert Downey was in Iron Man, and plays this right to 11.

The real gems are support roles from McAdams, Wong, and Ejiofor, although I wish they'd done more with McAdams' character Christine.

It falls down from a 5-star rating due to a heavy reliance on SFX and glitz, which while very reminiscent of Inception can be a bit confusing/distracting at times (just eat your popcorn and go with the flow). It's a good ride for the family, whether you want action, redemption, a little romance, or some punch one-liners.

I wish the NZ Blu-Ray release was a little more interesting, but it's HD and looks and sounds great, so what are you waiting for-
