Description

This book is controversial, anti war and a story of one life of a 1st generation American from childhood to motherhood to running a small business to builder to politics to caregiver to separation to living alone and having everyday becoming Monday. It is a story of a girl born to emigrant parents from Syria in Allentown, PA. Living with parents who worked and 3 older brothers who took care of her the best they knew how. At 8 the family moves to Detroit, MI where they bought a grocery store. She grows up and gets married and deals with her new family. To get away from the family who is constantly in their face they move to Scottsdale, AZ when their 2 children finish high school. Her world opens up in Arizona like she could never have imagined. She discovers that she has a talent for drawing floor plans and building custom homes. Then with c-span she discovers Perot and is the first in AZ to send the $5.00. She works on Perot's campaign in 92 and 96 and becomes a political junky. She marched against the 2 Iraq wars (occupation) and sending e-mails to everyone in DC. Becoming a grandmother at 60 that helped to keep her young at 70 to handle what was to come. Making the best of a bad marriage she then becomes a caregiver to her 80 year old husband of 48 years, but was not ready for what happen after his second open heart surgery when he picked up and left. The adjustment to single life at 70 was not easy because she had never lived alone before which made it truly an adventure for her.
