Description

The Explaining series looks at a range of conditions, illnesses and disabilities that affect children and adults all over the world. The books explain why they occur, how they are diagnosed, how they affect people and how they can be treated. Explaining: Asthma will help you understand what asthma is and how it affects people. Case studies illustrate what is like to live with asthma and how people with the condition manage it to live full and happy lives.

Author Biography

I have been writing information books for children for many years and have written nearly 300 books (I've lost count). I write about extreme weather, forensic science, animals and anything I can research - I enjoy finding out and writing about new things. I also visit schools to talk to children about writing and run creative science writing workshops. When I'm not writing, I listen to a range of music, which includes some jazz, Mozart and Mahler, and enjoy playing tennis and walking. My favourite books include Middlemarch by George Eliot and A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro.
