"A Fable to Far"
3 stars"

Having been a huge Fable 1 & 2 fan, Fable 3 came out somewhat lackluster.

There has been considerable effort from the developers in making a game that is, in their eyes, revolutionary. There is no start menu, no lists of items/weapons/spells. And while this is being promoted as a good thing, you'll find not being able to see what you have readily, quite annoying. Frequently, upon entering this revolutionary start menu, you are prompted to look at the latest DLC, almost 4 times out of ten.

‘Intuitive controls’ often falls into the category of ‘stupid’ and ‘ill timed’. Why shouldn't up on the D-pad always take you to the map, instead of only when the game thinks you might want to see the map? Quest reminders also take up a good 30% of the screen, and sometimes freeze there for as long as the game thinks you need to be reminded.

That being said, the voice acting within Fable 3 is very well done. The delightful addition of John Cleese to the cast makes for some light entertainment. The land of Albion is still varied and colourful, from the countryside to the industrial slums. The addition of the eastern land of Aurora makes for some interesting exploration.

I did enjoy Fable 3. It is still at its heart a fun RPG jaunt through a colourful world with interesting characters. Being not much of a challenge, it would be great for a lazy afternoon of gaming.

"Short and Tasteless"
2 stars"

Peter Molyneux has failed in bringing this third installment to the hearts of gamers. Fable 3 lacks the intricate features that Fable 1 and 2 had, simplifying things to the rim, putting convenience, over enjoyment.

In Fable 2, you gained levels in separate jobs, giving a feeling of achievement after strenuously slamming the buttons to reach the requirement amount of gold. In Fable 3, you level up by buying it through Guild Seals.

Ahh, Guild Seals. The essence of Fable 3. Want a stronger sword? Guild Seals. Want some more funny emotes? Guild Seals. Want a child to take care of? Guild Seals. It all stems from Guild Seals, taking a lot of enjoyment from the game, to place it all on trying to acquire the damned Guild Seals.

Do you want to become friends with a certain someone? Alright, run to a town and dig something up for them in a ‘Fetch quest’. One of the most annoying features that I ended up just neglecting. Who in their right mind wants to run around making friends for a total of about 10 Guild Seals? Not me.

The game is very controlled, unlike the 1st and 2nd of Fable's series. The Road to Rule controls the entire game, and it overused. It also annoyed me that you get there, and they throw about 80 Guild Seals into your pocket. Why? Don't try and aid me with this annoying feature, if I have to bare it, I will do it myself.

Experience orbs are totally removed from the game, that was a foolish move. Experience orbs, gold and Guild Seals balanced the game, and now it is Guild Seals, and gold. I did enjoy seeing those orbs swirl into me.

On a positive note, Fable 3 had a relatively good story. Sadly, nothing I didn't expect, all very, well, Fable-y. I won't go into spoilers, but let's just say, I knew that ending would arise, from when we encountered that certain evil the first time. Too cliche.

Overall, Fable 3 was an over-hyped release, to a sad dismay. Unenjoyable to the letter, Fable 3 hopefully is the last, or they really need to hire a new storyboard crew, and use better, and maybe unique features. Hopefully Molyneux learns from the feedback he receives from Fable 3 critics.

"Another Great game in the series"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This was a great game but a bit different to the fable 2. I found the gameplay good and new things had been added such as pie making and lute playing where you earn money. But to level up you had to spend these ‘Guild Seals’ which you earned by doing quests and such. Some of the changes I didnt like such as choosing your power you had to go to the start screen and choose if from the sanctuary. Overall a great game and thouroughly enjoyed my self playn it.

"Still Rocking!"
5 stars"

Before I Brought this game I read most of the Reviews here and they were not to flash about this version of fable it got me wondaring, so I had to try it for myself and I have clocked fable one and two more than once and was very happy how they were put together, I havnt quite finished 3 yet! but played enougth to see what some people were meaning, some things have changed and its actually pretty good, sort of more realistic sort of if you can see where im coming from without spoiling anything, so if your in doubt of buying this and loved the others this is definetly a have, theres not one thing i dont like so far, auwsome version of fable all round.

"Lacking"
3 stars"

Fable 1 would be one of my favourite games of all time, Fable 2 was a step up graphics wise but for the release time it was nothing special, where as fable 1 was just Amazing. Fable 3 feels more like an exspansion of Number 2, Nothing special when compaired to Fable 1 but all in all a good continuing game for fable 3 with a little amount of bugs 6/10.

"Disapointing"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Fable 1 was incredible. Fable 2 was Breathtaking. Fable 3 was crap. If the game did not have the title I would not recognise it was fable. The graphics were awesome but the idea of the “Road to Rule” was a very very stupid idea. The fact you have to unlock the ability to buy buildings was very disappointing. The shops were very sad, and I hated the fact that you did not talk to the shop keepers and bought things off of a stool. Would have been a good game if the two previous fable games were not behind it. All in all it was very disapointing/

"As good as the last one"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I love this game! The fun story line is always a plus with the fable games but I like the fact that it is not too hard. I don't play many games so it is nice to find one that I can finish with out having to get some one else to do all the hard parts for me. Hard core gamers may find it too easy as you don't die but for me that was great! I loved fable 2 and now I love fable 3.

Easily one of the most boring games I have ever played.....I gave F3 about 4 hours of game time and it didn't improve…Playing the stupid mini games will drive you to the point of hurting someone…the constant cycling of NPC's talking is mind numbing…for IGN to give this a 8.5 someone was paid off big time!…oh and everyone has an annoying British accent, wouldn't use this game as a coaster…or trade it in for fear of driving someone into the mouth of madness…Bad Microsoft…BAD BAD BAD…

"Glitch in time, saves none"
1 stars"

Well this game has alot of glitches and it crashes from time to time.

The breadcrumb trail doesn't appear in some areas, the gnomes keeps talking even when being shot at (Gargoyles don't in Fable 2).

If your xbox doesn't have access to Xbox Live to do the Title Update for glitch removals then your in BAAAADDD LUCK

"Fable 3 Failed"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Fable 3 is just silly

It looks like they spent all their time writing their “funny” gravestones and not enough time on everything else

This game seems awesome on your first play through but then you get to the end and its just ..... Wait i'm the ultimate good guy and yet everyone dies? And so here you are the best ruler albion has known but your in charge of what 1000 people out of the millions that died?

Another thing is the game play, I thought wow this is amazing at start, attack with my sword, shoot someone in front of me, then quickly spin around and blast someone in the face with a fireball wooooo, then you get some new spells with different effects and its all fun until your weapons start becoming too powerful that its not really a game anymore just killing with a slight bit of humor in it.

And then the humor, Fable is known for being very fun and very funny but this “fable 3” is neither, the only funny part is near the start of the game as being evil with a petition.

Also the choices, in fable 1 you would have a “good” or “evil” choice every 10 minutes at most and in fable 3 its a few at the start, a few at the end of big quests then just being the ruler decisions.

This game is a giant letdown and I would not recommend it to anyone unless they want just to be entertained for about 3 days

I rate about 6/10

"It was horrible :("
1 stars"

How can a game be this un-fun…

Armor doesn't seem to mean anything, actually you get none just costumes… that feel more like dress-up…

Weapons don't mean anything, got through whole story without changing them.

Theres no menu screen, no inventory screen, no mana management, health management is left to drinking a potion every now and then, I don't think I ever had to drink one.

Actually its not really an RPG… more like an arcade button mash adventure, with a story that is interesting but very short.. and it doesn't play on morality very well.

Stick with Fable 2, its a better buy.

"Saved by the gnomes!"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Return to Albion, overthrow a tyrant, save your kingdom. The gnomes hurl insults at you while the hobbes hurl, well themselves. The game engine did grind to a halt once in a while, but didn't crash out right. I enjoyed it, lots of play in it when you attempt all the side quests, and rather family friendly – if you have a moral family that is…

"what fable 2 should have been"
4 stars"

It's a typical fairy-tale story, though Fable III is anything but typical. The base gameplay design is very close to past Fable games. You'll go on quests, fight with hobbes, collect various hidden goodies, and explore an open and flexible world filled with very British humor. Everything is more streamlined this go around with less clutter and traditional role-playing to get in your way – which some may cry foul at, though I rather enjoyed.

What makes Fable III feel unique is the layer of politics wrapped around the standard Fable setup. The whole point of the game is to gather enough followers so that you can progress down the “road to rule,” thereby unlocking new gameplay elements, upgrading your character, and ultimately sacking the throne. It's a lot like running for political office. Completing quests, handing out money to beggars, shaking hands, and making promises to important leaders are all ways you can prove your worth as a hero.

"Great Game for all"

I have only just become a gamer chick and must say I'm addicted to this awesome game. Men and Woman alike will love this game. This game allows you to make your own decisions to change the game play. I highly recommend Fable 3

"Fable II with attitude."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Not for the faint hearted or morally upstanding. If your kids have been playing through the other two episodes of this then get ready for a somewhat less p.c. version of both. The gameplay is more contorted than in previous versions yet somehow more compelling. Haven't completed the core storyline (yet) but my kids and myself are all thoroughly enjoying both the familiarity and newness of the gameplay in this newest quest style game. I would not hesitate to recommend this game to anyone, much less those who have played and enjoyed the Fable predecessors.

"Not the best, but not horrible"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

When Fable 2 came out, I purchased a new Xbox 360 to play it. Loved it. Sold the Xbox later to buy a Wii (no regrets) because I wasn't interested in anything else at the time.

When Fable 3 was announced I was all-in again. Bought a new Xbox 360 and followed the hype up to release (probably a mistake).

Unfortunately – for me – I didn't end up caring much for Fable 3. I hated my dog more than anything. I didn't like the hair or clothing options. Interacting with villagers was somehow worse. I hated the Road to Rule.

Don't get me wrong, I did still enjoy the game. But nowhere near as much as the first two. This is certainly a good buy from the clearance section, but I wouldn't recommend grabbing it for a full-price; especially if you were a fan of the older Fables.

If Fable 4 comes out I'll undoubtedly buy it. But I'll be smarter and expect less.

This game was.. Alright but really felt like you had to push and grind to finish the game or even do the quest in the game. I really hope the new ones improve on this.

"finished in 2 days/10 hours"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

well if your one of those people who like finishing a game, then this is one that can be done in about 2 days… ofcourse if you decide to do all the miniquests, families etc, then it can go on a bit longer.

although it had a nice storyline and cool choice process at the end, the rest of the game was really dumbed down. no real customaziation, nothing like the other fables and generally a let down. also death… means nothing, all that happens is u get scarred. no checkpoint reset, no skill lvl loss… on that not there is no skill lvl ups, it happens automatically. i would prefer to have a skill tree personally.

also after the ending, if you went good, you got punished by a town full of dead people and generally pretty empty… so i stopped playing it after this.

Fable fans will not be disappointed with the highly anticipated third installment of the Fable saga. With New story, new Hero, new graphics and the return of the beloved hobs and hollow men, Fable 3 lives up to the standard set by its predecessors.

"Great game for Xbox 360"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Fable III is a great game. It has significant upgrades compared to the previous Fables. It has a great story line and the game play is great. The graphics could be better, but it is a console game so the graphics are dumbed down compared to the PC version.

"Fantastic game in the series"
5 stars"

LionHead has taken out menus as such, game play is good story line so far is interesting although I had to kill one person or 3 other in the start LOL but would I recommend this to someone- yes but… Would tell them to play 2 first to ge the hang of things that 3 doesn't explain so well so far for me this game is a 9/10

"Meh."

Highly uninspiring, it looks and feels clunky and the plot is thin and overused.

Not a bad game .. not as good as the second one .. but well worth playing .. I just found it a bit on the short side of things .. its very easy to make money in this one .. and the combat has a few tweaks to .. so if you have the second one then this one will fit nice in you collection ..

"Not fantastic but not bad either"

I enjoyed Fable 3 , its fun, easy and light hearted. Easy on the eye graphics and simple gameplay. Great for a casual gamer who doesn't want to spend every waking hour mixing potions and all the other rubbish that comes with games like Dragonage.

"Good sequel, lots of fun"

Purchased on Mighty Ape

Took me a long time to purchase this game, and once purchased took me a while to play, as soon as I started playing I was reminded how much fun the fable games are to play, The story although relatively short is good, and the gameplay is alot of fun, the graphics have not stepped up alot from form the second game but they weren't bad to start with. Fable 3 is a must have for all Fable Fans

"Great product!" Purchased on Mighty Ape

I loved playing the first Fable and I was hoping that fable 3 would be even better. I was disappointed at the poor story line and the Glitches that I encountered while playing this. I felt like they rushed this one. A real disappointment for such a well known franchise.

"My First Fable"

Thought the story was great but i just didn't feel like it had much to offer in the range of weapons and item management. Also the battle system was good apart from not being sure how many more hits you could take!!

"Addictive "

Awesome game screwed up the storyline the first time so played it through again and still enjoyed it !

"I love this game"
5 stars"

This was the first game we owned on Xbox 360 (well on any console) and we just loved it. We'd stay up late at night playing, wondering whether to be the good guy/girl or that bad guy/girl. Every move you make affects the outcome of the game. Truly an awesome game.

"Far Too Short"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I brought this as a present for my partner – he clocked it in just over a week.

Whilst he enjoyed making people fall in love with him and killing them to upgrade his weapon, walking round in womens pajamas and other ridiculousness, this game in no way compares to the first 2 installments.

I am definately glad I didn't pay full price.

"Fable with a lack of direction"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The first game in the series set a bar for ALL RPG games to follow – a game you had to buy the xbox JUST to play – it was that good. The second game had promise and while it did not quite acheive it, it is a game to play and enjoy… this game lacks direction as to what it wants to be, the RPG aspect has been scaled back – but not replaced with anything – it has almost gone to the dark side – the Action/Adventure game

"Good game but doesnt live up to the previous Fables"

This game did keep me entertained for the time of the campaign but it didnt really give me the same free roam control over my character as the other Fables

"Money well spent"

Purchased on Mighty Ape

The kids have been playing this for a week or so now. They are having fun and not bored with it yet, so money well spent IMHO

"Fable 3"

I liked fable 1 and 2 better but this one is still a good game. And you will have to make some hard choices such as destroy a nice lake to mine for gold or leave it. One of the things I liked about this game is it has avatar awards that are easy to get. Any way I give it a 3

"A little disapointing"
3 stars"

In comparison to the last two games, I found this to be a disapointment. The plot was developed and over in seconds,a nd the second arc of the game was focussed totally on money. I also found the lack of items a dissapointment, as only a few outfits/hairstyles/weapons/etc were available, and all else need to be bought on Xbox Live. Marraige to villagers was also a disapointment, with lack of special marriage characters such as Lady Gray, and with all the NPCs being the same (A noble acting the same as a commoner, ect).

"Beautiful to watch, semi-interesting to play"
4 stars"

Fable 3. A lot was expected from this particular title.

Graphically the game is anything but an eyesore. At times it is so well animated that I just want to park my character for a bit and take in the scenery.

The Voice acting is evenly breath-taking. NPC's don't just blurt out the same sentence over and over again or utter hard to understand things but instead dialogues and NPC monologues are as deep as a real individual.

However, whilst being a re-freshing and good looking addition to my immense RPG collection I must say that things such as marriage, falling in love, doing favors, etc does become very repetitive and boring after having done it a few times. Also having more advanced quests available after finishing the main story is not all THAT interesting but that really is more of a personal matter of taste.

However, if you are able to overlook these deficits Fable 3 delivers a solid 20–30 hours of in-game fun that really holds its weight.

Solid 4/5

"Average game..."

Its not what I expected, I expected a lot more from it, its an ok game but still prefer 1 & 2 way more

"Not what I thought"

While the game is rather decent its not as good as I thought it would be and I honestly prefer fable 2 over fable 3

"Pretty Awesome"

Im finding this game pretty sweet, anyone on the fence about this game should definitely give it a go. Much better than the first two and playing as a king is awesome!
