Accor ding to the Act, the mineral calcium fluoride, commonly called 'flu orite, is designated and shall be known as the official State mineral of the State of Illinois. This action was particularly appropriate as the State of Illinois has been the leading domestic producer of fluorspar, the commercial ore of fluorite, since 1942. In recent years, Illinois has accounted for about 60 percent-off the total United States production of this commodity.
