Description

Gerome's Rainbow is a thoughtful, rhyming story about acceptance which focuses on how differences make everyone beautiful. After Baxter's Corner characters are given an art assignment to create self-portraits, Gerome the giraffe and his classmates argue over what colors are best without realizing that they are hurting each other's feelings. It saddens Gerome that he and his friends are fighting, until he comes up with a great idea. At the end of the story, we give you the opportunity to speak to your values of acceptance and what you think is important for your child in their early learning years. Simply ask the questions and complete the activities using the back of the book, and you will be surprised where the conversations lead you. Building Character is Child's Play(R) Our books are designed to enhance speaking and listening skills though activities and conversations centered on values. Each Baxter's Corner story contains a magical message for a child to learn. They are referenced in the back pages of each book; we call this our GoBeyond section. Children are motivated to make positive behavior choices as they begin to understand how their actions affect themselves and others. This begins to build responsibility and accountability. Children's Books - 3 months - 8 Years

Author Biography:

Stephanie Lucchese Logsdon Author & Chief Marker 2020 Stephanie Logsdon's love of writing and creative thinking began at a young age writing and making up stories. Studying advertising and marketing at the University of Kentucky earned her a Bachelor of Arts degree. Beginning her career with a manufacturing company, writing and publishing newsletters, organizing events, and handling internal communication kept this passion alive. Eventually she earned a Master of Arts in Education becoming a special education, then a reading intervention teacher continuing to write in her spare time. Logsdon, also known as "Chief Marker," at Baxter's Corner where she works part time, was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. One of her stories she dreamed of as a child has transformed over many years into "Gerome's Rainbow". Her first published children's book teaching acceptance in a very gentle way targeting preschool through primary-aged children. She is becoming a valuable Baxter's Corner team member with her editing and marketing skills. Stephanie is the mother of two active boys who love adventures. With her husband and children, Stephanie enjoys family walks, spending time at the playground, reading to her boys at bedtime and rarely misses Burn Boot Camp exercise! ##### Mary Ellen Brown Stottmann - Born in New Mexico, raised in New Jersey & Louisville Kentucky Mary Ellen Stottmann's art education began earlier than most. By the age of ten she was oil painting with a style that is still apparent today. After studying art in Paris, France she lived in New York City majoring in graphic design and graduated from the internationally recognized Parson School of Design, currently The New School. Her professional career began in 1966 working for an advertising studio. 1968 was a co-founder of a "Printing While You Wait" company which eventually led to her owning a digital offset printing company to retirement in 2005. Her career in printing allowed her to continue designing material for her clients; some are still being used today. One of the many opportunities offset print gave her was an amazing understanding of color and how it reacts by overlapping intensity. At retirement Mary Ellen began oil painting again taking a very graphic approach. Building the objects (and people) she usually paints over an intense color background allowing this color to form highlights or lines depending on the complexity of her pieces.
