I'm a guild wars fanboy, I've played since launch, brought every micro transaction I could get my hand on, campaigns, eye of the north, everything! I love the world of Tyria(Or continent… Yeah). Ghosts of Ascalon is really a beautifully nostalgiac book. It's not really the kind of book people who are not fans of the series will pick up and read and think is amazing and wonderful. They will however find it a fun and engaging story.
But what really makes Guild Wars: Ghosts of Ascalon shine is all the legacy sites, all the references to things in Guild Wars 1. Little things throughout the entire game made me smile like a dork because of the references to the way Guild Wars 1 played or the places we went in Guild Wars 1, this kind of nostalgia makes the book so incredibly enjoyable from front to back. The plot is also very interesting and engaging. The characters are well written, maybe not fleshed out as much as they could be, but you feel an emotional tie to them.
The fact of the matter is although this book was amazing to me and I loved it. It's not the best book ever written, it has plot holes and a few flaws, the ending is almost non existant but in the end it's a great gap for the loooooong wait for Guild Wars 2(Amongst filling up my HoM).
5/5(For a fanboy) 3/5(For average readers).
