Description

Guscott is a solicitor in Brighton. Approaching middle age, he finds himself being drawn into police investigations far too often for his peace of mind. Mostly his own fault, because he is interested in the truth, and has that very dangerous thing: a sense of justice. In this first novel of a series set on the South Coast of England, from the louche charm of Brighton to the aging elegance of Bexhill and the down-at-heel feel of Hastings' historical streets, Guscott discovers that a priest - with whom he was drinking the previous night - has been found dead in a Brighton car park with his throat cut. As clues to Brother Luke's mysterious past slowly surface, and another murder occurs, Guscott has to look for motive - and for someone strong enough to cut the throat of a man who had played full back for Ireland's rugby team...
