Awesome game, really great plot that can branch any direction you choose. Recommended to anyone who prefers a story based game over action.

Presentation: 10/10 The menus are excellent, some might find it a bit gloomy, but its contextual and beautiful. The game comes with two square papers to make your own origami and with instructions, a nice touch. The box art and manual are both good too.

Graphics: 10/10 I looked around a lot of places and everyone seems to be giving the graphics only an 8 or 9. Personally, i think they are gorgeous, among the best on the PS3, probably only second to the Uncharted series. The in-game cutscenes are motion captured, so again, very beautiful and emotive. The only problem I could think of in the graphics department is that the characters you control, look kind of stiff when you move them around.

Sound: 10/10 Excellent and most importantly clear voice acting. Being of foreign ethnicity, this is one of the few games where I barely looked at the subtitles. The music is dark and really gets you into game. As much as the control scheme and excellent story, keep you into the game, the music plays an equally important part.

Gameplay: 9.5/10 I am a big fan of button pressing set pieces (Uncharted) and quick time events (Yakuza, God of War), so I absolutely loved this game. The unexpected surprises, leading to the quick time events are awesome. The game starts off slow with you performing mundane daily activities but then goes onto become on the most involving and emotional engaging games ever made. Even gamers who like fast paced games and FPS's should try it out. The story will suck you in. This game is intense, the story, the situations you will find yourself in, the unexpected surprise you are about to step in, everything. You cant really lose in this game as selecting different actions or missing some of the buttons during a fight, will make the game play out differently. However, you should try and redo them or just concentrate heaps to avoid a disappointing ending. Thats the price you pay – if you dont make the right choices or miss buttons, then you will get a disappointing and unsatisfactory ending but if you do everything right, you should get a good and happy one. The only problem is in the control scheme as some of the prompts that appear on the screen, look similar to the others. Prompt for pressing a button and pressing it rapidly, look really similar and since everything happens at a break neck pace, you could find yourself in a hot spot.

Lasting Appeal: 9/10 My first playthrough took me about 10 hours. But that is because I like to check every nook and cranny. If you just storm through it, it should be about 8 hours long. However, the longevity comes here through the different endings. If you did everything right, you could go back and retry the whole game or specific chapters and mess it up to see what happens. Theres a lot of possibilities. The only complaint here is that, you cant skip cutscenes, so you will have to sit through them again if you have plans of going back and doing things differently.

Overall: 9.5/10 The cutscenes cannot be skipped if you want to redo some of the chapters, and some of the button prompts can be confusing. But apart from those minor complaints, this is a beautifully presented game – its gorgeous, excellent soundtrack and voice acting and an innovative gameplay. Definitely try it out, atleast to experience something new and for its intense gameplay and emotionally engaging story.

Although I loved this game I would suggest downloading the demo as this type of game does not suit all gamers. for me this game has all. It is like being in the middle of an investigation. I loved the different characters and the fact that there are so many different endings makes it a worthwhile buy as you can finish it so many different ways. Definitely worth the money. 10/10

Well Heavy Rain combines both together in sort of ‘interactive movie’ where you control the protagonists' actions and what they do and where they explore.

Great graphics with a great storyline and filled with some incredibly tense moments make Heavy Rain a strong addition to a movie + game lover's collection

I brought this excited and I enjoyed every minute with a wicked storyline and interaction and many many different choices and endings so every time you play the outcome is different. Therefore you are not just paying for one game your paying for many.

I had held back on buying this game, because I didn't just want to play it like any other game, but wanted to immerse myself in the story and really enjoy it.

It has been described as an interactive movie, and I must agree. The story is good and the characters are very believable. My only gripe is that in some scenes the animations look weird but it doesn't take away from the experience.

Heavy Rain will have you thinking about it during your daily routine., not only about the story but about the decisions you'll make next.

It's very deep worth the purchase.

Heavy rain is a psychological thriller game that plays like novel/movie. An engaging story that is sure to suck the gamer in. The characters seem very real and the atmosphere of the game especially the music is fantastic and really sets the dreary mood.

HOWEVER this game has a MAJOR flaw. I'll have to warn everyone before purchasing this game that depending on your copy, this game can FREEZE at random moments. It also has out of sync audio when played for extended periods of play. If your copy is faulty, let the good people of Mighty Ape know.

Regardless, this is a great game and anyone who has a PS3 should seriously consider purchasing this game.

So far it's an interesting game – definitely a unique idea and probably worthy of its own genre.

Hoping the tedious beginning of the game doesn't continue throughout (eg: you have to brush the guy's teeth for him!)

It is incredible! It dosn't matter what others are saying, it is the most thought out and incredibly unique, amazing, fantastic and blody incredible game i've played. So well thought out. I love how every little decision changes the entire story. Every little thing has its place in this game no matter how small. This is definitly a 100 out of 10! I do not know how to explain. If you are thinking about considering of becoming interested in maybe hiring this game, i say, screw hiring this game, BUY IT, BUY 5 COPYS! JUST BUY THIS GAME! You will thank me. You will thank Quantic Dream for creating this game, you will want to kiss the creators feet. This game IS the meaning of gaming!

I have played this game once through and it is without a doubt like no other game I have played ever. The plot is intense and really grabs you and suck you right into it. I can see this being one of the rare games you could play 50 times and every time it would be different. Great Effort

Firstly thank you Mighty Ape for having this in my letter box before I got home from work last Thursday, I was a happy bunny. As usual superb service. This game had some serious hype and I hoped it would live up to it. It is indeed an interactive movie, Fallout 3 this is not so its best just to sit back, turn off the brain and enjoy. Visually this games uses every bit of the PS3 capability and the graphics just look stunning. The story itself is very good and would make a decent stand alone movie so for the first play through its enthralling and I make this an essential purchase for the PS3.

Sadly, there are some buts which stops me giving this game an excellent rating. I'm currently on my first play through, went to load my game from the last save point and grrrr blank screen. A review on the internet reveals im not the only person having this problem. Also the game crashed on me during the first police station scene. It is very dissapointing the game was released with these flaws present. I will have to replay a few chapters, my advice on the first play through just pause the game if you can. Also if your connected to the net before you even play the game you will have to download a 226mb patch, what this is for nobody actually knows.

Two minor criticisms of the game itself. The control sytem is rather annoying, wlaking in the direction you want to go is challenging and when the camera switches you head off in the wrong direction. Also some of the speech and action options are obscured on occassions which again has you pulling your hair out. But the game is well worth it for these hiccups. Hopefully there will be a patch soon and ill update this review to excellent.

Just finished the game and it is absolutely amazing. Brilliant story, superb graphics and an awesome score. The story is nothing short of a Hollywood screenplay. Once you get into this game you will not be able to put it down.

This is the most fun I've had playing a game in years. The story is excellent, from start to finish, and believe me, by the end you'll be on the edge of your seat. Great re-playability too, it would seem. Not to give away any spoilers, but the credits showed certain events – events that didn't happen to me. I suspect choices make an impact on how you experience the game. Nice set-up for a sequel too – subtle. I'd give it 10 out 10, but nothings perfect. 9.8+ all the way.
