Author Biography:

Johanna Spyrl was a prolific writer born in 1827 near Zurich, Switzerland, and is now primarily remembered for Heidi, which was inspired by her upbringing in the Alps. As a child she spent several summers near Chur in Graub nden, the setting she later would use in her novels.
