The story of Highland Park begins long before the New Jersey town's founding in 1905, with the Lenape hunting these high woodlands along the banks of the Raritan River thousands of years before the arrival of George Drake--brother of Sir Francis Drake--in the seventeenth century.

Highland Park Borough Historian Jeanne Kolva and author, historian, and Highland Park native Joanne Pisciotta present here a new history of their town in time for its 2005 centennial celebration. Based on primary sources along with material from the Highland Park Historical Society's archives as well as private collections, this original work brings new life to Highland Park's unique history.
