Perle noire (Black Pearl): the black ink was the first created by J. Herbin, with an exceptional quality. He gave it the name “Perle Noire” for its preciousness.
From the beginning, J. Herbin distinguished itself from its competitors by offering a wide range of colors for the fountain pen inks. The names chosen for each color are very poetic to preserve the originality of the brand and as a French tradition.
J. Herbin is the oldest name in ink production in the world.
By 1700, the company was producing “Perle des Encres” – The Jewel of Inks. 300 years later, The Jewel of Inks is still being produced.
Each bottle of 30ml has an integrated pen rest. The bottles are known as “Flacon D”. The “D” refers to the old French unit of measure “la Demi Courtine”.
