Excerpt from Journal of the Proceedings of the Thirty-Ninth Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church, in the State of Pennsylvania: Held in St. James's Church, in the City of Lancaster, on Tuesday, May 13th, Wednesday, May 14th, and Thursday, May 15th, A. D. 1823 On the 6th of November, says Mr. Boyd, I left Huntingdon and went to Mr. Cromwell's, in the neighbourhood Of Shirleys burgh, where an appointment had been made for me to preach that evening. Mr. Davis, an aged and pious member of the church at Huntingdon, accompanied me on my way, about eight miles, who at parting, with much feeling, begged that the friends Of the Redeemer would remember their forlorn condition, and induce some zealous and pious minister to come and settle among them. On leaving this interesting neighbourhood, I was forcibly reminded Of our Lord's werd'sto his disciples, when he saw the multitude of his countrymen without any to show them the way of salvation, they fainted, and were scattered abroad as sheep having no shep herd: then saith he unto his disciples, the harvest truly ls plente 0115, but the labourers are few, pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. - That this scripture applies to the members of other churches, I will not Venture to say, but it is literally true of Episcopalians there.
