Just Cause 2 (PS3 Essentials) reviews

I got this game a little while back and I have just about completed it (91%) so I have played it long enough to give it an honest review (82 hours according to the stats) the map is huge, in the fastest plane it takes over ten minutes to fly from one side of the map to the other (I'm not bluffing), the scenery is amazing except for the 2D trees that you will notice if you fly a helicopter. the water graphics have to be the best I've ever seen in a game. there are story missions, faction missions, and also locations you have to complete, and collectable items. once you get used to the grappling hook, you will be able to outrun most vehicles and you will find yourself not so reliant on weapons anymore, due to being able to use the grappling hook as a weapon. there are loads of easter eggs and although many have been found there are likely to be even more to be found. the game has 104 vehicles on the disc and even more available as DLC. The game never seems to get old, and you will find more and more things to do as time goes on, like tractor burn outs, motorbike wheelies for extended periods of time and just plain general mayhem. one thing to note though, if you see a new vehicle, DRIVE IT, some vehicles are rare to come across and you're better off to drive them while you can, i still have three vehicles to find and I've looked everywhere. weapons and vehicles can be bought from the black market, which will make sure you never run out of vehicle's and ammo. One other great thing is this game must have done some extensive debugging, because after 82 hours, the only bug I have ever found in the game was the rotors didn't appear on a helicopter I hijacked. all and all, this has to be the best open world game I have ever bought, and one of the few games I would give a full five stars to. You are on top of the glass encased walkway between two shanghai-esque towers, you are creeping across, when an armed helicopter does a peek-a-boo, coming up out of the unseen sky with guns blazing out of twin turrets… You fall with the breaking glass into the walkway interior, bullets ripping your flesh, so you fire your grappling hook out of the damaged walkway into the helicopter and get pulled out of the walkway and against the heli's shell, flipping up to its side you blow the gunner's brains out and fight the pilot from his seat and throw him to his death, you then take the heli's controls and turn predator into prey… Until another heli appears and you are locked suddenly, out of nowhere, in intense aerial combat… Your heli is badly damaged, you are about to be blown out of the sky, so you do what anyone would do… You dive out of the heli as it explodes into smitherings and grapple yourself to the other heli from a death fall, killing occupants and then landing on the walkway from whence you came, before resuming… They shouldn't have messed with you.

Or maybe you just want to cruise around an open world so massive and diverse, that it makes GTA look like the local sandpit.. And not the Just cause sandbox I am growing to love… Which rocks. Most underrated game of all-time. I hardly bother with missions… As for the differing and flowing handling of the vehicles (helis and planes etc included).. I say “bravo” to avalanche studios, “Bravo.”

What a wicked game have really enjoyed playing this. Great graphics! Neat storyline to follow or not which is good to have options. Heaps of battles and also alot of driving for people that enjoy that with a great variety of vehicles with some good races. Overall a toatally awesome game with everything you want and more!!!!!

I have played this game for hours on end and have always enjoyed it every time.

If you are the type of person who buys a Grand Theft Auto game to spend the whole running around causing chaos – this is the game for you. Combining incredibly fun gameplay with an enormous world to explore (and cause chaos in), this game is serious fun. And just when you think you are getting bored, you will discover that you can grapple objects to other objects – opening up a whole new world of mayhem.

Weather its blowing up things during the missions or running around freely throughout the map, this game is one to keep you entertained for hours on end. The game almost has a “do whatever you want” feel to it which is great for people that like to do more than just missions.

This game reminds me of saboteur and farcry games, big map, hours of exploring to do to get the hidden goodies, missions that are actually challenging and vehicles galore ! You can fly, sail and drive in this game to your hearts content. Find upgrade parts to take on the tougher missions. I really enjoyed this game and if you are a fan of action on a big map, then dont pass this one !

Hours and hours of endless fun, from flying 747's to hijacking helicopters. The list of things to do is endless.

This is one of the best games I have ever played! The map is ridiculously huge, graphics are amazing and the story isn't bad either. When you can fly from one end of the map to the other, in about 7minutes it really gives you a sense of how big the map is. Furthermore, if you're after a bit of a flight sim game, this is it. Always fun landing the big birds!

The great thing is, you can come back to this at any stage and have hours of fun!

It has a horrid story and voice acting but if you (like me) buy open world games just to drive around, shoot stuff, blow stuff up and do crazy stunts in a large world then this is probably the best game you can buy. If you want story then you may want to look elsewhere, but really it is a fantastic game

This game is great! It has a ton of content, plenty of DLC some FREE! This game will be a real challenge to 100% There is so much to do! Game play wise, it is fantastic! It boasts a unique movement/combat mechanic, the grapple/parachute combo, which by itself boast hours of fun and tom-foolery. You dont even have to be doing anything objective based in this game to have fun. Just exploring and messing around with the grapple/parachute can keep me entertained for hours. This is a solid third person shooter which boasts a huge open world, a unique interesting mechanic, more vehicles than you can shake a stick at, a plethora of side tasks, an in game screen record function, and almost no boundaries. If you wanted to do something in a video-game, the chances are you can do it in Just Cause 2. There is a reason this game has gone platinum.

Primo game

Just bought Just Cause 2 recently and I was amazed at the sheer amount of content.

So much fun to be had here as well and thats what it boils down to. Must buy!!

This game is so over-the-top with rediculous gameplay mechanics but that is what makes it so much fun! It's really hard to take this game seriously when you're flying a plan with a jeep tethered to it. Graphics are beautiful and this game has a lot to offer.

The scale of this game is epic. Amasing visuals. Fast paced game play and loads of side quests.

Ever wanted your own island as a plaything- Just Cause 2 comes close, with an area that makes the cities in Grand Theft Auto look like a small city suburb by comparison. If flying around in what is essentially a Tomahawk gunship at top speed and laying waste to military compounds over an area that takes around 10 minutes of real-time flight to cover from one side to the other is your thing, then this might be your game.

You can jump out of your exploding jet plane and grapple onto the chopper that just shot you down, take out the co-pilot and then hijack it to fly back to where the action is.

You can grapple an enemy to a gas cylinder and then shoot the cylinder causing both to shoot around the place.

There's a huge number of vehicles including scooters, motorbikes, tuktuks, cars, vans, jeeps, boats, trucks, choppers and planes.

Essentially this is another sandbox game in the same vein as the GTA series but you can do the missions in largely whatever order you like although you do unlock missions by completing earlier ones, as well as the ability to buy newer and better weapons and vehicles from your black market contract.

It's a heap of fun but it can get a little repetitive, there's only so many times you can grapple onto a far rooftop, reel over to it, grapple onto a passing car and then release your parachute to paraglide behind it while shooting up the military as you pass them, then releasing your grapple, firing it at the chopper overhead while you're still floating, then reeling into that, taking it over and then laying waste to the area.

Just cause 2 is the best open world game I have seen in a long time

Far too many games are coming out focusing entirely on realism. This isn't much of a bad thing, but does become annoying when all the fun has been taken out of games. Just Cause 2 fixes every problem with the first, makes it look a hell of a lot better, and then tells Realism to shut up, go sit out on the street corner.

Just Cause 2 is what every video game developer should strive to achieve. Ignore the stupidly confusing plots that go balls up half way through, or the gritty intense shoot outs with only a small handful of soldiers. Jump from a helicopter, open your parachute four times, fire a few rockets into the midst of a small army and end up by grapple-hooking (Real word now) a lone soldier to a passing plane. And then blow a lot of things up.

Every vehicle can be driven (Unless it is broken. If it's on fire, it will explode later), every gun can be picked up and all single handed ones can be duel wielded. We're talking sawn-off shotguns and revolvers. Just about everything can explode when shot at, or driven in to. Especially when driven in to. Even if what is being driven in to wasn't going that fast, of have the capacity to actually explode.

The two main things about this game are what make it so perfect. It' size (slightly smaller than the first…but not by much), and the amount of specific locations. There is an island that cuases your plane to crash, a race track with no way to get the racing cars off save from hooking them to a chopper, a Mount Rushmore-like mountain, snowy, mountain-peak bases, frozen lakes, an airship club far up in the sky. A beached whale with weapons inside it. There is so much variety in this game, you'll forget the blatantly average story and terrible voice acting.

Personally, I've spent a little over forty hours on a game I finished thirty hours ago…it's becoming like Minecraft.

To summarise, get this game. It's cheap, and is STILL better than a lot of games currently coming out.

I had played the first Just Cause game on the PS2 and wasn't too impressed with what I can remember of it. Subsequently, I had my doubts about this, but I thought for the price it was on sale for, what the heck. Well, I am so glad I did! It is a stunning game that gives new meaning to the term free-roam! The map on this is HUGE and there is so much to do. Highly recommended if you like GTA too. LOVE IT!!

its such a good game because there is so much to do whether you fly a plane into an oil rig or grapple people to the oil canisters and make them go into the sky this is a must have for any sandbox game lover!

This is a excellent free roaming game. You can get around quickly using your grapping hook which has about a 80 metre range and while in the air you can use your paracute. From there you just aim your grappling hook at the ground and use momentum to continue to paracute. It has great graphics and theres a huge road infrastructure. You can choose to get to a location driving a number of different vehicles and its very fun. I found the driving part better than any racing game ive played and this is only one small part of the game. If you demolish your car, theres always a number of cars on the road, so you can just hijack someone elses car. You'll also be driving helicopters and aeroplanes which sometimes have missile launchers and machine guns attached to them. You can free roam anywhere with these vehicles and land where you like. Basically to unlock the main quests you have to complete side quests for different factions, and I found the side quests to be just as, if not more fun than the actual main quest. I was disappointed when I realised I had finished the quests and main story line because it was so much fun. But its a good size game and will take you a few solid days to get through. It takes a while to master the controls but once you have it down, you'll be happy.

This game is Brilliant, sandbox games are fun freedom to do anything which is great. Lots of weapons, vehicles to hijack, using the grapling hook is fun aswell. Lots of missions to do that will the game intresting for awhile. Make sure you find armor upgrades, weapon upgrades and vehicle upgrades otherwise your going to be stuck. You must buy this game its great :D :D

This is a personal 10/10 for me. I cannot remember the last time I had so much fun with one game, OK the cut scenes leave a lot to be desired but taken with a tongue in cheek attitude (that I am sure they are supposed to have) they do the job of moving the story along. The real fun comes from everything else on offer in this huge world, I don't know how many locations to discover (over 200?) and complete, 100 plus vehicles to find and countless correctables. Can't recommend this game enough, get it today.

This was a slow starting game. But once you get into it the game becomes awesome. The fact you can use your grapple and parachute is awesome. And you can just about blow up anything.

Saw this game for a great price and just had to get it, I expected it to arrive a few days after buying it but I received it the very next day! I was very happy with the service and even being kept up to date where the game was. Extremely satisfied.

Well this game has a lot of skydiving with guns and cars and boats and jets and lots and lots of things to shoot. But do you want to know the best thing about this game-

Seeing a beautiful sunset just after you blown that base to hell. This game is pretty.

I have played this game continuously for a long time… There is always something to do, its a bit like a modern day Skyrim, with a large world and alot of adventuring to do. Not to mention an epic means of travel… :)

Lot of game play over 20h of game play

In this game you can just play it for hours blowing things up. The story in this game gets boring and hard to follow at times but there is still so much to do the lack of a story does not seem so bad.

The plot of this game is fairly light and doesn't hold interest for long. Just as well the environment is amazing. The islands are huge, and with snowy mountains, desert, forest, cities and villages, as well as some cool easter eggs, it takes forever to discover the whole map, let alone conquer it all. Combat is a bit weak but its so cool to jump out of a car, parachute off a bridge and grapple to a helicopter, like any action movie you've ever seen.

Wicked game with heaps to do but the main story is insanely short.

An excellent game if you don't want to think, and instead just have the desire to run around shooting soldiers and blowing stuff up.

Story is crap, but who cares! The graphics are awesome, the game play very fun and the sound is superb too.

This game is sooo cool that you get to run around blowing stuff up and the fact that its freerome is just sooo much better I give this game a 10 out of 10

It took me awhile to really get into this game, but once I did it was brilliant. Gameplay is excellent, storyline is easy to follow. Basically all the elements of a great game. My only concern was playing as a latino guy, as his accent makes some of the cut-scenes a little hard to understand but that is what the subtitles are for.

This game is every changing and loads of fun. The fact you have to go around blowing things up is great.

Just Cause 2 is a third person shooter/sandbox game. The game has a short story but has so much more stuff to do. The game is bigger than and GTA and has so many things to collect. There are thousands of things to destroy and collect and it will take a long time to complete this game.

Blowing things up is fun to do in this game. It's even better when the things you're destroying are huge like cranes.

The guns in the game are quite varied but also contain all the generic weapons like rocket launchers, machine guns, pistols, grenade launchers and grenades.

The best feature of the game is the grapple hook which you can use to move around very fast with the parachute. The only problem is that other forms of transport become useless because it is so much fun to parachute and grapple hook around.
