"Great rules for fun, streamlined games."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Great alternative to warhammer fantasy and age of sigmar. You get to reuse most of your warhammer army, even use the models that you could no longer play with (looking at you Giants and wyverns). Short, concise, cleverly written. Cheap great game, even has great models that are getting even better.

"Everything's in here!"
5 stars"

A book condensed to size of an imploding neutron star yet somehow it has an entire ruleset in it and army lists. Be glad you didn't throw your money into the Black Hole that is Age of Sigmar!

"Great value for money. All the rules and armies."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Great value, the entire Kings of War Second Edition rule book in a compact format, with scenarios, magic items and the full army lists. Glossy book with a decent binding which looks like it'll stand a lot of gaming. Small format means it is easy to transport too.

"Fantastic"
5 stars"

This is a fantastic book with everything you need to know about the game and all the army's listed (except those in the expansion book.) Do note however that the softcover book is the one without all the history and ‘fluff’ of the world as the softback is just the rules to take with you for more easy access when gaming (hence the term gamers edition.) As such it does an excellent job and the game is crisp and easy to learn and play.

"Easy to follow"

Its got what you need in one book, Plenty of army list to choose from, for new players and old alike.

"Pretty good really."

Let's see…

Rules – check! Faction rules – check! Small magazine size for easy transport – check!

Binding seems good enough although only the test of time will judge that, it's definitely not falling apart after reading through casually which is a bonus, and it skips the fluff to keep size down which is also a bonus if that's what you're looking for (which I was).

Cons – lists only a few of the factions that the previous version covered… The rules for them are out there but for those that have a wfb army that they were thinking of bringing over you may need to do further research to find fitting army info… Not a huge deal though.

4 of 5 stars for that reason. Still worth the purchase though!

"Clear, concise and well produced!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This rulebook gives you everything you need to play Kings of War 2nd Ed.

All that is missing is the background to the fantasy world of Mantica and more nice photos that you get when you purchase the hardcover rulebook.

This book is extremely well laid out with easy to follow rules and includes the Army lists for all the current Mantic Fantasy Armies and other Fantasy Miniatures you choose to use.

Gameplay is quick with our first small game at 700 points per side taking 45 minutes. Our gaming group is now converting our armies to play Kings of War. It has been very popular with local gamers.

Well worth the $20 investment!

"A basic alternative to WHFB"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Ordered this after Age of Sigmar killed off WHFB looking for an alternate system. The boom itself is a good product, well written with clear explanations for various rules and how they should be interpreted. only issue with the rules is the absence of unit images within the army lists makes it difficult to distinguish between unit types. Otherwise it appears to be a good book for a basic rule system

"Great update"

Great update. Same game and a lot of great fixes
