When LEGO Harry Potter came out I thought that it must be it for LEGO Games, but now they have thought up this one, I must say that it looks good. Pirates of the Caribbean looks like a great setting for a LEGO game, as the storyline will work with humour of LEGO. Expecting great things of this game, now I have to wait till May!

Usually I despise previews written as reviews but I had to make special exception for this game. I played and replayed the demo for this several times and while it is highly simplified in the way of signposting EXACTLY what you have to do (hoping you can turn this off), this is going to be a fantastic game.

The graphics have been vastly improved from previous LEGO games which is a welcome change. Motion blur and fully detailed textures make this a really pretty game to look at. The gameplay is largely unchanged but why fix what isn't broken? I suspect they'll add some things to change it up a little, which can already be seen through the character wheel and Jack's compass.

However the thing that convinced me to pre-order this is the attention to detail in terms of story. The usual LEGO humour is here, but they have added a lot of subtle comedy for those who look for it. The voice work (using the term loosely) is fantastic. Jack Sparrow sounds exactly like Johnny Depp. I would not be surprised if they got him to record grunts and yells just for the game. And that's the thing that separates this from other LEGO games. The characters don't feel generic, Jack Sparrow feels like a complete character rather than a plastic effigy. Unconvinced? Just watch any gameplay video and see how many of JD's characteristics they nailed. They have his run absolutely down pat.

If you're on the fence, download the demo and enjoy. I cannot wait for this to release.
