"Superb Adventure!! First Class!!"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Mass Effect 2 leads on directly from Mass Effect (but not crucial to play the first before the second, but is worthwhile to play the first game) and can take your save games from the first game into the second, to continue your personalised Mass Effect experience. Characters you had killed in the first game, are gone from the second, choices in the first game can lead to new pathways in the latest game, and combined with a amazing story, that sci-fi and action fans will love, Mass Effect 2 is a thrilling adventure that I couldn't stop playing.

In terms of gameplay, they have dramatically improved it over the first game, with tighter controls, more action packed gameplay. Superb quality for a RPG game, which took me about 30 hours to complete.

The graphics are superb! Amazing HD graphics, from textures on the suits, to the explosion of the grenades, they look amazing! And the sound of the guns, to the amazing orchestral score sounds magnificent, perfectly suiting each situation. Also the voice acting is the best I've ever seen.

The free DLC promotes the life of this game, but it is more the choices you make in the game, which changes which way you play, I've already finished it once playing as a good honorable player, but want to play it again from the evil side to see how it plays out.

As whether to get the normal edition on the collectors edition, I loved the first game (even with it's flaws) and the collectors edition was worth the extra $20. The art book is interesting, however a tad short, bonus ‘making of’ documentaries were very interesting, plus wallpapers, and a great tin case, in a box which has one of the best box art I've seen. The extra armor/weapons aren't game changing, the game has plenty of content to keep you going.

Overall, if your looking for a RPG adventure game, a sci-fi experience, or a great shooter, Mass Effect has you sorted, with amazing visuals, top voice acting, awesome gameplay, I can't think of anything wrong with this game, and is definitely up for Game of the Year in my books.

"Engaging RPG"

I was a little unsure on whether this worth purchasing but now that I have it, I'm glad I did, this is an RPG that did not get much media attention and was pushed aside with many other great games. This game will have you spending hours on just the main storyline, it has got to be the longest game I've played for a main quest line which is not a bad as there is plenty of optional quests and exploration to do. I recommend it to all RPG fans who are looking for a new world to explore.

"GOTY for sure!"
5 stars"

All I have to say is OMG if you loved the first one or are just a fan of RPG's in general then this is a must have. The presentation is fantastic 10/10. Game play is much smoother(less technical issues) and you get into the action a lot quicker. The best part is you can import your character from the first Mass Effect and you get bonuses + the decisions you made reflect on the story. The game is never the same each time you play.

Can not wait for the third game!!

"Epic"

I got into Mass Effect by playing the third one years ago, and now just bought Mass Effect 2 and 3 for PC. Mass Effect 2 is amazing. You play as Commander Shepard and it's up to you to stop the Collectors from abducting human colonies. You end up recruiting a variety of characters from different walks of life who have their own loyalty missions which helps give backstory to them. The shooting mechanics are good and the biotic powers can help save your life. Squad choices for missions can help make it easier. The choices you make can affect Mass Effect 3 and how that turns out for you. The bonus disc with the making of and all the extras was pretty neat and so was the comic. All in all, a great buy.

"One of my all time favourite games."

One of my all time favourite games, rather disappointed that one of the corners of the box was damaged on arrival though, particularly seeing as this is the collectors edition…

I'm playing through this for the forth time, this time using an Adept on “Insanity” mode. Any game that get pull you in for multiple replays speaks for itself.

ME2 doesn't suffer from the reptitive map syndrome of ME1. While linear, the maps are superbly detailed. Character models are awesome, and the voice acting is top class.

Cerberus network access that comes with a new game is defiinitely worth it, with several DLC's already available for free.

If you're into sci-fi and FPS's this is definitely something to get.

Great value at ~$70. Hours of gameplay, engrossing story, excellent graphics…buy it! Bring on Mass Effect 3…

"definitely awesome."

I played this game for Three days straight to finish it and there was still a lot left to do. Even for people that aren't fans of RPG games will love this a great mixture of action, shooting, and adventure.if you have played mass effect 1 you can use your save game for mass effect 2 and it says in game that you will be able to use your mass effect 2 save games for mass effect 3 which i can't wait for.

"Better gameplay at expense of epic story."

Although the game still maintains the high standard set by the first, even surpassing it in some areas such as graphics and combat, I coulnd't help but notice the RPG element had been slightly reduced.

An analogy for it would be like Pirates of the Caribbean. The 1st movie stood well on its own however the 2nd needed the 3rd to close it off. In a way I think ME2 is in the same boat where it will blend well with the 3rd game but is left floundering on its own story wise.
