This is mainly a review of what you get in the Collector's edition
Premium metal case featuring commemorative artwork of Commander Shepard
_____________________________________________________
You get similar artwork on the normal case where you can flip the cover to
show either John Shepard or the new Female Shepard – every steel case I get
I have problems with – this is no exception – the plastic holders for the
discs – especially disc 2 are incredibly hard to open and I'm constantly
worried I'm going to snap the disc. You are going to be swapping discs
frequently in this game I must have swapped them at least 6 times.
70-page hardbound art book __________________________
This is a small but very good art book – I picked up details I hadn't
noticed in game – I've looked at the bigger art book and felt it didn't add
much more than this one it is just a lot bigger. As a fan of the series
I enjoyed this – although I didn't read it until I finished the game –
I seriously recommend if you don't want spoilers then don't look at it before
finishing the game.

Um… A postcard… Not sure what I will do with this
Limited edition Mass Effect comic by Dark Horse Comics

I felt a bit suckered by this one, it is part one of a series and is only a
few pages long. I honestly didn't get much value from this addition.
The premium fabric N7 patch ____________________________
Ah… Well this is sitting next to my monitor – if no one is watching I'll
stick it on my t-shirt when playing – has velcro hooks on the rear side so
really needs the velcro fuzzy side to stick to
A full collection of in-game content that can't be found anywhere else!

Right now we are getting to the middle of the pudding, you get a bunch of
codes to enter into the Xbox marketplace – there are some new weapons,
let's talk about those. Weapons keep leveling up in the game – as you
progress through areas you find more powerful guns, these CE weapons give you a
small edge early in the game – more physchological than anything else –
the guns kick and spray everywhere – once I got the Salarian's gun later in
the game I never changed it.
Still if you are buying the collector's edition it is because you love
collecting right- – so having more weapons even if you don't use them is just
part of playing RPGs
Another code gives you access to the Ashes of Eden content – despite all
the internet tears about day 1 DLC – I personally don't think this content
is essential – it gives more lore on the Protheans and adds some interesting
conversations and if anything suggested to me that my Shepard could suffer the
same fate as Javik. Javik as a companion is awkward if you are a paragon, he
seemed more of a renegade, I didn't take him on many missions, be warned you
still need to download 600mb of content to activate this character.
The dog
Hey there, good dog. It really doesn't do much, I'm not sure why it was
included, now if it could come on missions and take out some husks…
So that's the content reviewed, as for the game… All I'll say is that I've
never said so many goodbyes in a game before, nor been left grieving at the end
before. Despite the unusual end, the game is worth buying, it contains many
satisfying levels, ties up as many loose ends as it leaves hanging and
ultimately is a story about friendship and sacrificing everything for your
friends.
I recommend the collector's edition as a good buy for any fan of the
series.
