Just got Rome: Total War off a friend, awesome game and I'm sure this latest Total War would be a smashhit as well.

I have been a fan of the total war series since the very first game (Shogun) came out. It was a clever blending of two excellent game styles into one immersive experiance. Medieval Total war expanded on the concept, the move to Europe expanding the scope of the game. Rome total war saw major overhauls of both the battle engine (now in 3D) and the campaign, dropping the risk style model for a real life style map. Medieval II looks to return to the medieval period and bring the advances to create the game that the developers would wanted to have been able to make the first time around. Some people might find this game too complicated, the diplomacy, spies, assassins, religion and family members are expanded on the previous games. This isnt a hack n slash, or even a simple strategy game. But if you want a realistic medieval battle simulator, and a strategic challenge without the fictional style of the civilization series, then there is nothing else that even comes close. (note: realism being the emphasis) The demo looks nice, but is frustratingly prescripted. Your troops are already in almost perfect positions. In the real game you have the challenge of starting from scratch. Do you deploy your archers to the front, or hide them under the cover of the forest? What if the enemy deploys siege engines? Do you have cavalry available to flank and counter? It has been a long time coming, but Total war is almost upon us again!

My first look at Medieval II: Total War was playing the demo. From the demo it looked great! I have played both rome total war and medievil total war. This version of total war is the best of them all! From the demo I played the famous battle of Hastings in 1066.
