But this part of.the worki having been completed and ready for the public eye, I have yielded to the importunities of my friends, who have fuggefied to me the neceflity at this moment, of laying before the public fuch further particulars as relate to my condui'l therein. It will be Obferved - tha't I have adverted in the courfe of the following pages to Mr. Malone: and ifthe animadv crfions fhould be deemed irrelevant, I trufi, that no Other apology is hecefi'ary, than the Intimation already given, of my having intend ed this Vindication as ah introduetion to the work ai luded to, and therefore that it was a more eligible plan, not to make any deviation from the method, I at firf't deter mined upon purf'uing.
