But twenty-one years of age himself when be accompanied the American agents to Paris in the year t 776, Zaida Kay was present at Barren Hill and contributed not a little to General Lafayette's success upon that occasion. Thereafter, he returned to France, believing that he could be of some service to the Marquis, who had befriended him in a signal. Manner in America, at l was then believed by the American people to be in some grave peril by reason of his principles and their practice in Paris.
