Author Biography:

Eileen Chang (1920–1995) was an influential modern Chinese writer and the author of several novels, essays, stories, and film scripts. In 2007, Lust, Caution, a film adaptation of Chang’s 1979 novella, directed by Ang Lee, was released. Perry Link is Chancellorial Chair for Teaching Across Disciplines at the University of California at Riverside. His latest book is An Anatomy of Chinese: Rhythm, Metaphor, Politics.
