Description

Excerpt from Natural History Transactions of Northumberland, Durham, and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, 1903, Vol. 14: Being Papers Read at the Meetings of the Natural History Society of Northumberland, Durham, and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, and the Tyneside Naturalists' Field Club The admission of a class of Associates to the benefits of the Society and the consequent alteration of some of the rules; the administration of the Hancock Prize Fund; and the condition of the roof and upper portions of the walls of the Museum Building, which the Committee much regret has required their long and serious consideration. To put the roof, etc., into a proper state of repair will entail a consider able expenditure of time and money. An appeal has been made to the members and general public for subscriptions, and the Committee have pleasure in stating that through the liberal donations of the influential members and friends of the Society they hope now to realise the funds required to under take the needful repairs of the building and the entire recon struction of the glass roofs.
