Description

We are used to seeing the world as a globe. But distances along curved surfaces are not easy to visualise, and navigation between two places on the globe is not just a case of drawing a straight line. So how does it work? This book provides a unique way to make a globe through 12 Tile Maps, maps that take sections of the world and make them flat but carefully connected. Using tools provided readers can answer the quizzes about the shortest routes between cities for their airline and explore the geography of the world as they do it. Minimal craftwork is required to get excellent results.

Author Biography:

Alan Page spent his working life in Aeronautical Engineering, and is now retired from his position as Assistant Chief Aerodynamicist for Raytheon Corporate Jets. Inc. Practical skills, a love of geography and navigation combine to make this book - the benefits from which he is giving to charity.
