So the last NFS I played was ProStreet and I bought this based on having serious fun with NFS Underground. I played the NFS 2015 Beta and still kept my pre order. This game is full arcade, I will not compare it to Forza or Gran Turismo.

Car selection is limited, even more so are the bodykits. Ie. Can't change the wheels on the F40 or the Supra only having two bumper options. The sounds of the cars are near enough, as you can hear the difference between a rotor/4banger/v8 etc. Driving is always at night and the map can feel rather small if you teleport to every race. The AI are entertaining and can be challenging at times. Ranking up offers motor parts and the odd exterior mod. No real detail tuning options, just a scaling system between drift and grip. (Yes you can change ride height, offset, brakes etc).

The story/script is nothing special, rather cheesy. You join a crew and make yourself known to the scene through events. The game is online only and I haven't had any issues while playing. Hosting or getting your friends to join can be long winded as this isn't as easy as it sounds.

There's fun to be had, so long as you don't take the game seriously. Drifting down the mountain with your friends whether it be an event or challenge is a hoot. Drifting… Well I said it was arcade and yeah this is a great example; no real skill require. Once you understand how the game wants you to drift, plunging into corners at high speed with multiple cars is a breeze.

My one sentence summary is just wait… Why, because the game doesn't feel complete, it needs to patch a few bugs, release more content before I give it more than 5–6/10.

If you enjoyed Midnight Club LA, NFS Underground then this will still well in your gaming collection.

"For true Car Enthusiasts."

absolutely amazing gameplay, car selection, graphics, game engine. couple glitches here and there but this always happens on new games so give a couple weeks for updates. i love the endless supply of modification both visual and performance, and i love finding the right balance between drift n grip. i am level 50 on this game and i love it so much. only thing that bugs me are the cut scenes with the characters talking – cheesy as but oh well. i preordered this in june and i was very excited waiting the 6 months for it, and i wasnt dissapointed when i got it like others. but yeah i love it so i hope you other customers do.

"Disappointing"
1 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Graphically master piece, sound and cars are amazing. However the game is severely disappointing, broken AI, rubber banding and vulgar scenery make you scream abuse at the TV. EA games couldn't have made a worse game if they'd tried because of the horrid sound track, AI and rubber banding it gets a 1 star. Hire the game or borrow it.

"Great customisation"

Awesome in depth car customisation, could do with improved gameplay of driving style. Needs patches for a fps drop when in intensive play.

"4/5"

Just ordered. Already know I will love the game from the good reviews. However, a friend of mine that played the beta version told me that the engine upgrades in the RX-7 are mods for a piston engine… Bit of a let down being a big rotary fan and since it is affiliated with Speedhunters, etc.

"Only playable online."

If you don't have internet connection it's a waste of money, don't see why it's online only! I'm sure it's an awesome game, but that's the downfall for me.

"Wonderful Reboot"
4 stars"

For the past years, the latest Need for Speed games weren't as great, as the originals, until the reboot.

I've been waiting to see, a new Need for Speed game, be made like the Underground series, where you can do full customization's on your cars, whether it's an old or new car.

The graphics, being played on Frostbite 3 engine looks excellent. The driving feels great and is easy to use. There is a lot to do in Need for Speed 2015, other than just racing now.

Overall, it's a beautiful reboot from the racing franchise I use to love so much, but began disappointing me when Rivals was made.

"Good game, lacks direction."

Okay so you've probably watched the trailer and gone, “Holy shit, this looks awesome.” I enjoyed the game overall, it goes back to the Underground feel and it is the direction I hope they continue to take. I will now list some pros & cons so it doesn't become tl;dr!

Pros:

  • Reasonable size city & overall look is great. Great drifting areas and sharp corners for a wide variety of races.
  • Returned focus on drift, customization and car culture (although exaggerated).
  • Decent (just decent) movie sequences / cutscenes visually.
  • Some races are genuinely challenging unless setup correctly.
  • Car customization takes a front seat rather than the trunk.
  • Great game if you like overall arcade racing with great visuals & customization.

Cons:

  • Lack of story depth, it is really just a tie in for the races nothing extra. Which I thought was disappointing, I'm pretty sure I've finished most of the story and you never have a rival throughout. It is very anti-climatic. There is nothing enticing you to beat a race / key character e.g Ken Block.
  • The game is too dark, I recommend putting your gamma / brightness up so you can see 10× better. I kept crashing because I just couldnt see anything, I'd refer to the minimap but its hard to look at both without missing little barriers etc.
  • Cops are awful. Lets be honest, you want to smash some cop cars haha – well that is not going to happen. They are like huge bricks with wheels, I haven't even totaled one. I enjoyed absolutely wrecking them on Most Wanted (05) and this game was just cringe in that regard. They are easy to get away from with high heat but just overall annoying in general.
  • Some score setting for races are just pathetic and way too easy – the trophy challenges should be the benchmark for some to make it difficult.
  • Customization is one thing they promoted heavily, unfortunately some cars just don't seem to have that much to customize.
  • Catch-up is stupid, I crashed purposely 4 times in a race and still won – if you crash twice you shouldn't be able to win unless it is a very long race.
  • Lack of traffic, its like a ghost city. Lack of variety of traffic also.

It is worth a buy for a Need for Speed fan, but don't go in with high expectations.

"Reboot my behind"
3 stars"

More of the same. Nothing has been as big and grand since the Most Wanted remake. It has a story though so yay for bad dialogue. The racing, driving and customization is same old same old. Honestly there isn't anything groundbreakingly new here and FOR GOODNESS SAKE WHO IS THE IDIOT THAT KEEPS MAKING THE NEED FOR SPEED GAMES UN-PAUSABLE!-

"Great fun, missed this old school type of NFS"
