"New Moon Is Highly Recommended Reading."
5 stars"

New Moon is the sequel to Stephenie Meyer's remarkably good debut novel Twilight. This novel works well enough as a stand alone but I think that you will get a better understanding of the story and maximum enjoyment from reading it if you have read Twilight first.

New Moon is always going to be compared to Twilight and people who are expecting this novel to be essentially the same as Twilight may be disappointed. Twilight had an almost dreamy, fairytale quality to the writing, which this story lacks. The Cullen family of vampires are also absent from a large proportion of New Moon, and vampire fans may keenly feel their absence. Do not let this put you off reading the book however because it is still one of the best books that I have read this year.

The story is narrated in first person by Bella and has an obvious parallel with Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and I mean obvious because even Bella recognises that she is in danger of playing out history's greatest romantic tragedy. I think keeping Romeo and Juliet in the forefront of the readers mind actually helps the author build the tension for the climax of the story because we can all see the tragedy that is waiting to happen.

For fantasy fans, the story isn't all about Bella and her emotional pain. The Quileute werewolves are an exciting addition to the story and it will be interesting to see how this plot line is developed in the next novel in this series.

I stayed up until the early hours of the morning reading this book because once I was caught up in the story I couldn't stop reading. I'm sure I'm not the first person, and won't be the last person either, to say that about this novel.

"Team Jacob"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

If you are a “Team Jacob” fan then this book is for you. Its emotional, deeper and darker than the previous book and is the favourite book of the series – or so Robert Pattinson says. It takes you through the heartbreak Bella feels when she goes through the breakup with Edward. The heartwrench she feels is completely understandable, and easy to relate to. Very “human”. The time length is very realistic in the book – a few months is not enough to get over someone and there is a slow transition when Bella feels that she can finally start to get over Edward however slowly but painfully before he comes crashing into her life again. Edward is absent through most of the book and you tend to see a lot of Jacob Black and the intensity of the relationship between him and Bella. Jacob is the “friend with benefits” but thats all he can be… a “friend”. A love triangle complicated as it is but worse when there are werewolves and vampires involved. Excellent emotional book. I give it 5 stars.

"Loved It"

After reading twilight i had to read new moon, which i think was a very good choice.

New moon flows on great from twilight and gives you the impression that you are still reading the same book which is what you want from a second book.

I really enjoyed this book and will definately be reading eclipse.

Description

I stuck my finger under the edge of the paper and jerked it under the tape. 'Shoot,' I muttered when the paper sliced my finger. A single drop of blood oozed from the tiny cut. It all happened very quickly then. 'No!' Edward roared …Dazed and disorientated, I looked up from the bright red blood pulsing out of my arm - and into the fevered eyes of the six suddenly ravenous vampires. For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is more dangerous than Bella ever could have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of an evil vampire but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realise their troubles may just be beginning …
