The layout is + 10 % larger as the original for a better readability. With 6 illustrations. "Notes of a Son and Brother" is an autobiography by Henry James published in 1914. The book covers James' early manhood and tells of "the obscure hurt" that kept him out of the Civil War, his first efforts at writing fiction, and the early death of his beloved cousin, Minny Temple, from tuberculosis. This was one of the last books Henry James saw though the press before his stroke in December, 1915 and his death three months later. That biographical fact gives the book a special poignance that enriches James' loving memories of his family and friends.

Author Biography:

Henry James (born April 15, 1843, died February 28, 1916). He was an American writer who spent most of his writing career in Britain. He is regarded as one of the key figures of 19th-century literary realism. He was the son of Henry James and the brother of philosopher and psychologist William James and diarist Alice James. He died in Chelsea, London. His ashes were buried in Cambridge cemetery in Massachusetts.
