Nyamgondo is an African folk tale set in Kenya. The title character is a poor fisherman who frequents Lake Simbi to catch fish. One day, a beautiful lady appears on the other side of the lake, and Nyamgondo is captivated. This woman predicts that the fisherman will make a large catch-and to his surprise, he does! Things go well for Nyamgondo and soon enough, he asks for the lady's hand in marriage. As time passes, however, success seems to change the once humble fisherman, and it is his wife who shall make him remember that arrogance is what brings ruin to a man.
