This Birth-day of washington is a Thanksgiving Day to the people of this country, which it needs no proclamation of Governors to persuade them to remem ber and to keep. It is a day when the image of the venerable father OF his country rises before every heart, and when our national blessings - many of which he was a chosen instrument in securing - pass in review before every mind. I shall, therefore, give expression to the feelings which pervade all our land to-day, if I enumerate some of those blessings, and contemplate the character of him whose memory we revere as the great, the good, the wise Father of his Country.
