Description

Excerpt from Radium, Vol. 10: A Monthly Journal Devoted to the Chemistry, Physics and Therapeutics of Radium and Radio-Active Substances; January, 1918 Dr. Kelly and -dr. Burnam, pointed out the differences between lymphosarcoma and Hodgkin's disease and the various leucemias. They drew attention briefly to the history of lymphosarcoma, beginning as a local infection and growing more or less rapidly, metastasizing, and finally invading the lymphatic system, more or less, of the whole body, and invariably causing death in a period of from several months to a couple of years. Surgery had always stood impotent in the presence of lymphosarcoma, even in such an accessible region as the neck, and when situated in the breast or abdomen it was, of course, even beyond the dream of surgical relief. It was Nicholas Senn who, in 1903, opened up the great question of the ray therapy of these affections. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
