Though superconductive magnets with their ability to generate fields of highest intensities are very popular in science, the bulk of magnetic devices in accelerator experiments and in general still are 'normal', i.e. resistive, iron based magnets. An example are beam transport magnets which actually focus and deflect the already accelerated beam onto a target, both in fundamental research as well as in e.g. medical applications. This book covers basics and principles of these magnets on an up to date basis. Scientific as well as technical and engineering staff needs such a concise and readable book to complement their knowledge. The author has for a long time been the CERN expert for resistive magnet technology, and his name is known with the scientific staff.
