"If only all shooters were like this...."
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Yes it requires STEAM.

Now for the good news, This game is one of the best shooters u will ever come across. The maps are large and small. Some servers have custom maps which makes this game go on and on. Highly recommend. Also there is Rising Storm the Pacific…which is from Tripwire as well. Join the Aussie / NZ servers that is where the real soldiers fight. See u online.

"Game play Stunning, Buggy Development"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Purchased Recently through the site. The game itself with all the features are truly stunning. That is an easy 5/5, however due to the new patch that came out. the Steam platform which is 100% required gave me a big hassle to solve all the bugs on crashing. Hopefully none of you would have to go through I what I've been through. And in the end, I recommend it to others, RO2 is an amazing FPS. :) Thanks Mighty Ape

"375 hours and counting..."
5 stars"

Yep, it requires Steam. That's a bad thing because Steam tells my wife how many hours I've put into this game.

I really like the bolt-action rifles, being able to reload round by round, the differences in the weapons, the one-shot kills if you get a body-hit from a rifle, or even a pistol if you get a head/heart shot. I like being able to shoot people hiding behind wooden fences, or even light brick ones. I like having able to crawl across the landscape trying not to attract attention. The tanks are stupendously detailed, although the maps don't make use of them as well as they might. The Developer Kit means that we're starting to see more custom maps rolling out, and some of them are glorious.

The wound mechanics try for some level of realism – you can bleed to death, and you don't get better, although in some game modes you can bandage yourself, this doesn't make you better, just stops you immediately dying. (And your character will whine and complain about how they're in pain and have a hole in them).

It's not perfect, (I really dislike the LMGs leading the assaults) and if you're used to running and gunning, you might find yourself shot a lot by people lying prone in cover. But if you like a slightly slower style of game, where tactics and caution are rewarded, then you might like RO2.

"Battlefield has competition"
5 stars"

Okies first the rant. This game requires STEAM and, as far as the internet knows, there is no way to install from the CD.

Now the good stuff. The game is AWESOME!!! Game play is similar to Call of Duty and Battlefield 2 with it's capture the flag style objectives and the regenerating health system. It is also similar to Bad Company 2 as while the cover does not erode with the fire you are still in danger adding that more challenging element to the game. Some times the AI will hit you even though you may not be able to see them. So to all who wish to buy this game, it has a downside to it but the game play is well worth it.
