RE2 is an absolute classic. This remaster is so much more than a graphical revamp. It broadly sticks to the format and story of the original RE2, but adds to, revises, and refines much of it – it feels like a new game and is worth it even if you have played RE2 plenty of times over. Strongly recommend this as one of the best games of the year, no doubt.

This is how a remake should be done. They have taken the bones of the original and remixed it so that it feels familiar enough to players of the original but different enough to be full of surprises.

Really disappointing that I have to write this review but I specifically bought this because I was led to believe it would give me the free PS5 upgrade, and it clearly says on the product page still that this includes the free PS5 upgrade, which is only true if your account region matches the disc region, which in my case did not. I received a Region 2 version for Europe so am not offered the free PS5 upgrade for my account, which is a New Zealand account, so I assume I will only get PS5 upgrades offered to me on my PS5 for Region 4 game discs. Usually Mighty Ape is pretty onto it but sadly not in this case.

But after rebooting the PS5, the free PS5 upgrade was there on the home screen.

One of the best remakes in video games

Got this for a steal and was not disappointed! A wonderful remaster. I especially loved the two seperate playable campaigns.

Great game

Having not played RE:2 when it was first released on the PS1, I was very excited to get stuck into the remake on PS4. It's beautiful to look at and incredible engrossing to play. Probably the peak of the series in terms of genuine survival horror until RE:7 came along many years later.

I greatly enjoyed the game. Only playing RE 5 to 6 recently it was a nice change of pace, really needing to manage my inventory and conserving my ammo, the story is very cool with some funny dialogue that breaks the tension, well recommended for anyone who likes survival horror or just wants to jump into a fun game.

Got it on a whim, played it, replayed it, then ordered a copy for a friend because I was replaying my copy again and didnt want to loan it to her. RE2 is replayable so you get your money's worth. My #1 game for 2019.

Highly recommended

The remake of RE2 is exactly how I imagine it would be. Basically taking the controls of RE4, 5 or 6 and putting them in RE2 made from the ground up. It's got plenty of content with multiple campaigns and scenarios which will keep you busy for a while. Fans of Resident Evil will not be disappointed and new comers will enjoy this retelling of a classic game.

Played though both stories and halfway though 2nd Run.
