Even if you don't like driving games that much, this one is a real treat! Everything has delivered, the standout is the graphics, quite stunning or at times mind-blowing. Awesome soundtrack, I like it as I'm into techno and electronic music. Good car selection, the gameplay trend is good, from easy to medium to hard to the real champion at the end of the day. You can see a lot of effort put into the game when it's being made. As you go on, you get to unlock cars and new tracks. I enjoyed the game very much, I've only played the original Ridge Racer from Playstation back in the days, and it's a lot better than that I'd say. Go buy this one! Forget NFSU Rivals, Midnight Club 3… seriously, it's that good, a PSP title you'll want to get and never regret!

Now don't get me wrong, Ride Racer is a lovely game, great graphics, great sound and great arcade racing game. But, once the gimmick of doing complete 360 degree turns dies, this game may seem…bland if you may.
The graphics are very very well one, although i have to say not the best onthe handheld. The sound suits but its nothing perfect. The gameplay, this is where Ridge Racer shines…for a while. The ability to do 360s is very fun, as you can imagine. Seriously, its the unreal physics that makes ridge racer such a blast to play! On a corner, just do a 360 and you'll get away safe!! its like the car is spinning on a slot in the road! It won't move from the center if that's where you were spinning, this is just fun but sometimes, also a flaw.
If your looking for a great racing game that will last for a long time, you should buy Wipeout Pure instead. Wipeout is the best racing game on the PSP. It has downloadable content, that means in the coming months, they will be releasing new tracks, cars and sounds via wi-fi which you download and save and this in trun increases replayability by a lot!
ok, where to start… hmm ok well the graphics are INSANELY good when the sunset peeks over the hills and shoots through your windscreen when your going 300km/h it is almost better than real life itself. the sound is one of the main things which you notice when playing also it comes from the psp's tiny speakers but it is sooo loud and detailed that it sounds as if you are actually inside/outside the car ( Depending on view) the selection of cars/ car upgrades is great and also the different courses they range from midnight “street” racing styles to a relaxing ( if you call 300km/h relaxing speed ) country race set during the sunset also a favourite course of mine is a beach side “Tahiti” Styled course.
Overall this game is great! please dont hesitate to try/buy=)
I imported Ridge Racer with my PSP back in Febuary 2005 from Japan, so my experience may be a bit diffrent from yours.
Ridge Racer is a great racing game. It has lots of Cars and courses to choose from, and the single player mode is quite large. You can do a career type mode, time trial and free run. You can also do Wireless Multi-Player, but I haven't tried that yet.
The graphics and sounds are awesome, and makes good use of the PSP's powers. It simply looks stunning on the PSP, and probabaly would be the best looking launch game.
The gameplay is what you expect from a racing game, but there are more slids and boosts in RR than most racing games out there. Fun stuff.
So if you want a good launch game with your new Portable buddy. get Ridge Racer. It's very good, and I think you will be pleased.
