This is a difficult movie to write about, because although the acting is great, the script is excellent, and the Australian scenery beautiful, I just wanted to throw a bucket of icy water over P.L. Travers (played fabulously by Emma Thompson). This is the story of Walt Disney and the problems he had making the film, “Mary Poppins”, and the story of the Australian-born author, Pamela Travers who was incredibly difficult, rude, and maddening. I agree with her objection to Dick van Dyke playing the Cockney, Bert, but I kept stopping the DVD because I became so irritated with P.L. Travers' character!! I think it's a case of don't watch this movie if you're in a bad mood, and prepare to be exasperated!

Tom Hanks is amazing as Walt Disney! Emma Thompson is wonderful as P.L.Travers the writer of Mary Poppins. It really is a delightful, moving and very funny movie!

This film has been sensitively handled by the director and producer. A true story about the author of the Mary Poppins stories as she reluctantly negotiates with Walt Disney to make it into a film. Beautifully acted by Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks. It's funny and sad and incredibly moving. Highly recommend.
Thoroughly enjoyable movie for those that remember the Mary Poppins movie.
Great acting and it's quite sad
