Description

Go To Hell is a blistering expose of malfeasance, abuse and corruption within the Thai prison system. It is the true story of an innocent British businessman, resident in Thailand, who has so far endured 15 horrendous years of hardship in captivity. As his release date approaches, this controversial book highlights the appalling injustice of his incarceration. The story begins with a description of the events of 4 January 1990, the day he was arrested by Thai police for buying and possessing 6 kg of heroin found in a suitcase in his car while it was parked outside a bank in Bangkok. He was there to do a favour for an associate who claimed to need help drawing up a banking document. Instead, it turned out to be a set-up and he was catapulted into a living hell. After his arrest and imprisonment, it did not take long before the attempts at extortion began. He was offered the chance to pay one million baht and be a free man within five minutes but decided to reject this, and subsequent offers, and instead began his fight for justice. Go To Hell illuminates the fear, companionship and violence that he encounters on his journey through the Thai penal system. His story uncovers inhuman behaviour, atrocities and instances of horrendous corruption that occur on a worryingly frequent basis. Mysterious disappearances, human-rights abuses and a taste of the dark side of this exotic holiday destination all add to the unpalatable flavour of this gripping account.
