"Setting EU Priorities 2008" consists of six substantial papers based on the European Strategy Forum's third meeting in Ponte de Lima, Portugal. The topics covered are the state of the Union at the beginning of 2008, the euro area and economic governance, the economic outlook in the EU, reform of the EU budget, the Mediterranean Union, and European security and defence policy after the Treaty of Lisbon. The papers are aimed in the first instance at policy-makers in the EU institutions and member state governments. They should also be of considerable interest, however, to anybody who wishes to keep abreast of the EU policy debate.
