"Best Megaten ever"
5 stars"

SMT: DDS has one of the most complex and twisting plots I've ever played, with references to several religious and psychological schools that will keep your mind working overtime. Like all Megtens, DDS is set in a post-apocalyptic city where rival gangs guard their territory jealously while trying to figure out what's going on. The combat, like SMT: Lucifer's Call, is turn-based with press-turns but it has been tweaked to allow the 5 playable characters to either morph into their Demon forms or stay in human form and use their guns. Like Lucifer's Call in combat an extra turn is gained for hitting an enemy's weakness and one is lost for hitting a strength. All the characters are well developed and each have their own distinct personalities, combat strengths and weaknesses and ways of coping with the plot-twists. The soundtrack is excellent, ranging from soft music to heavy metal, but whatever is playing it's always appropriate. SMT: DDS1 draws the player into an intriguing world, with well layered inhabitants and strange events and sets the scene nicely for the finish in DDS2.
