"Stay clear - worst support experience"

I pre-ordered, paid and cannot use the product as it insists that I do not have an internet connection. I will scan the internet for a solution for 1–2 wks and then return the product. Customers should not have to be ‘techie-geeks’ in order to have enjoyment in the little leisure time one has and not spent weeks on the internet to trying to find solutions and be disappointed by non-responsiveness by UBISoft. I have SH3 with GWX3 and the IL series. One generic advice by UBIsoft was to de-install internet security software completely – what is one to say? A very sad state of affairs. Otherwise with more thorough testing and taking a customer-centric approach this could have been a great product. I hope you have more luck. Regards, Mike

"Good News!: DRM removed, no internet connection to play now"
5 stars"

Ubisoft have removed the always on connection now. You apparently need to untick cloud saving and select force offline and it works without any internet connection needed.

This has been confirmed by people with the game.

"One simple word for this - "BAD""
1 stars"

I have been a Silent Hunter “Nut” since they first came out and was so excited to hear about Silent Hunter 5. I pre-ordered a copy and installed it the day I got it. Well, I've played a bit of it and now will put it back in the box. Its very buggy and with the DRM this makes the whole game not worth playing. I've got so far in a few missions just to have the game shut down without warning or saving – loosing all my progress just because my internet connection reset for a second. This whole game feels more like a Beta version than something that was meant for the open market. Even the good old short-cut keys of the other versions have gone, now if you want to man the cannon or anti-aircraft guns you need to walk there and do it yourself. I do admit it was fun to begin with and being able to move around the u-boat, it does bring a little life to the game but I'm sure that they could have left the short-cut keys in for those that just want to sink ships. I MIGHT play this again if IF UbiSOFT patch up the bugs and problems with it.

Once you have practised the basics, away you go, but being good requires much more experience. Only early days for me yet – a long way to go!

I seen bad PR about this game but brought it anyway. From my first 24 hours playing it and I'm rather impressed, yes there should be more a tutorial explaining how to do some things but a quick clicks on YouTube and you learn everything you can to be a Master Sub Commander.

Its nice to play on the Perspective of the Axis Powers compared to every other game where its Solely the Allies fighting for the good of the world. There are plenty of Mods out there even suggested by Ubisoft themselves to better improve your gaming experience. I chuck a few mods on and i'm in my prime to lead my men into Battle.

4 Star effort look forward to the next!

"Crash dive!"
4 stars"

Well Ive been a Silent Hunter fan since the first release. Ive held back from getting SH5 cause of the internet connection required and some bad reviews. But now with patches out and plenty of mods and fixes out by modders from Subsim (www.subsim.com) and not to mention the $15 price from MA, I'm sold.

Note: Subsim.com is the best place to go to for updates/mods/tutorials for Silent Hunter 5. From what ive read the game is pretty stable now and worth giving a try.

"Manual need vast overhaul" Purchased on Mighty Ape

Just started. Idea's great but manual is sadly lacking in the simple details. Like how to get from the Polish campaign into the Atlantic campaign. I'm stuck at the sub pens trying to take command of my new sub. No help in the manual. Crazy

"Getting better"

Further to my original review I can now say that with the work that the modders have done to this game it is well worth getting and will only get better. It is just a pity that Ubisoft couldn't have got it right before shipping the DRM is still a pain but on the whole a big improvement

"This is rubbish! What a shame!"

I've played earlier versions, which were wonderful games. This one regretfully fails badly, it is full of bugs & has a lousy manual it is unfinished!
I only wish I had read the posts on this game before I bought it. They tell all. Maybe update patches will finish the unfinished game and I will look forward to it because it has the great potential to take Submarine Sims to a new level of realism…Agh! Ubisoft what on earth happened here?

"Not good at all"
4 stars"

I was looking forward to the latest version in the Silent Hunter series having all the previous games. Well at this stage the game is a big disappointment. Not only do you have to contend with the DRM which is dodgy to start with and throws you out of the game if you get a glitch in your intent connection and is not really necessary but the game has no useful manual. If you pay for the gold version I believe you get a detailed manual but not in the standard version. What reputable games producer puts out a game without a decent manual. The game has numerous bugs in it, and no decent keyboard shortcuts. All in all the most disappointing game I have ever bought. I do not reccomend this game to anyone even at the reduced price.

"Game not worth the money" Purchased on Mighty Ape

This game is very much full of bugs, the install is long and time consuming, with all updates there DRM security is rubbish which makes this game a lemon.
